Y Axis Encoder Failure

We purchased a used EnVision 375 and everything worked perfect the first time we plugged it in, then we turned it off and on again and it hasn't worked right since. As soon as it finishes booting up the carriage head slams itself into the left wall and says "Y Axis Encoder Failure". Where is this sensor located so I can check its connections and to see if it is clean? (everything on this plotter was dirty!)

No one here can point me to where this sensor is?

I have never seen that printer in real life but look for a strip of clearish plastic that runs the length of the Y bar. That plastic strip is read by the sensor. Follow that to the sensor.
