Yet another Master XY-380P Question

I picked up a used 380P..... I have 3 questions.

1) Does it require something other than a 'straight-thru' serial cable?

2) The display always says "LOCAL" -- Should it ever say something like "ON-LINE"?

3) Is there a manual somewhere for these?

PS: It runs the self test OK.

If you have serial plug on your computer your good to go I have a high speed usb to serial adapter on mine.
Local is normal.
I will send the info that came with mine to you later. Not much of a manual.
