z motor 511 error question

Hello, I have a new(to us) JF 1631. This is our 3rd one and we now have 3. This one we are trying to get set up and the mimaki tech is here but we are having issue with one side of the gantry not going up. the motor on this sided spins freely when we remove it and we have tried a motor from another machine which we know works and still no luck, which moves us onto the bushings and gears. When we hook the motor up and try to turn the screw gear which connects to the worm gear it has a good deal of resistance and now when I turn the z motor the screw gear does not turn and so the worm gear doesn't either.

Would appreciate any help which my tech is still in town.

How was the unit transported to you?
Was the Y bar(gantry) removed?
It must be removed and the special brakets fitted to stop the weight damaging the threads to the z axis drive.
If this was not done I suspect that the threads have been damaged.
