  1. Discussion I've owned an HP R1000 since April 2019, ask me anything

Just a heads up on owning an HP-R1000. We were just told it is time for the "White Service Maint. Kit". Price $7k I guess that is their way of punishing you if you don't buy a maintenance package. Any one know what this kit that must be made of solid gold is actually for?
  2. Customer sent me this ad/price

Matching prices and trying to keep competitive, especially with foreign suppliers, is a race to the bottom. You'll never win. There is a reason they are coming to you even if they are asking you to match. We never do and we still get 80% of the orders. Our customer use us, trust us and know if...
  3. Best Source For DX4 Heads?

Agreed. Horrible experience with digiprint that cost me thousands.
  4. Discussion I've owned an HP R1000 since April 2019, ask me anything

I thought I'd post the solution. The height measuring tool lost it's origin. HP had to log in and recalibrate. Unfortunately, it is not user adjustable but it was a quick fix. Down side is the phone call for support is $250.
  5. Discussion I've owned an HP R1000 since April 2019, ask me anything

We started having an issue with our R-1000 where it has started printing blurry. Typically when we see this we would think of an alignment issue or a head height. Since head height is controllable on it, we have checked and reseated the print heads and recalibrated but are still having the same...
  6. Lens for Office Signs

I had an odd request from a client to replace the lenses on their office signs. The ones they have were silk screened with a red stripe and it clashes with their decor. Anyone know how to get this material? I am guessing it is polycarbonate but it looks like it has an antiglare finish.
  7. Polypropolene Banner

    Thank you.
  8. Polypropolene Banner

That is exactly what I told them but they won't budge. I thought being $0.75 more per square ft would dissuade them but it didn't.
  9. Polypropolene Banner

Anyone have any experience on finishing Polypropolene Banners? I have a client insisting on use poly for their banners and it needs to be hemmed and grommeted. I tried talking them into vinyl and priced the poly at a premium, but they still want poly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated...
  10. Lasering engineered woods

PVC release toxic chlorine gasses when burned. You should never use a laser on anything containing PVC.
  11. Weird order scam? Anyone ever have something like this before?

I like to ask for a credit card. Ask for all types of company info etc, Tell them cc was declined. Ask for another. Tell them cc was declined and repeat until they catch on. I have been tempted to tell them the order is "ready" and just see who show up for the shipping company :)
  12. Threat of Closing this year...

I wasn't advocating participating in the race, but the reality is that if you develop a niche or there is a lucrative market segment, others will jump in and try to gain market share by undercutting pricing and driving the market value down. Developing strong relationships is the key to earning...
  13. Threat of Closing this year...

If those are your main markets, sell your equipment, let your employees go and broker from your house. The large wholesalers can probably produce this stuff cheaper then you can when you add in your overhead. Printing has always been a race to the bottom. Cost of entry is low and competition is...
  14. Cyan issue...anybody have an idea why?

If it is just the single channel I'd guess bad head, controller board or cable from board to head. Swapping cable from one channel to another is a good way of ruling out the printhead as the issue.
