Any suggestions for clear media good for reverse printing and applying subsurface to acrylic, as well as the appropriate white backing layer? We have used a variety over the years, but with so many new films I am looking for options. Does anyone use polyester instead of vinyl?
We use .125" MDF when we can get it and .25" typically. No resurfacing, toss it when both sides are carved up. If anything we might sand some slightly to knock off any crud, but the time it takes to resurface a 4x8 does not make sense to us. Also, I would think you get better suction hold down...

You should utilize all the resources out there, but if you plan to be successful in this business you should be efficient at basic layout and design. Why pay someone for layouts and design that can be cranked out in a matter of minutes. Perhaps you aren't there yet, but stick with it and improve...
Add a bounding box to your cut vinyl for layout - make sure your graphic/ text is centered- Even a simple line is often easier to level up compared to trying to get a few flat even spots on a line of text, and if you are supplying rta cutting the box off neatly and evenly looks much more...
