  1. Competition for the Versacamm

Guess I've been remiss in posting lately. I took delivery of a Versacamm June 20th. Laminator (Daige) came but it was trashed in the box. I await the replacement. The dealer is about 10 miles away. They also carry media, inks, etc. Been spending the last few weeks trying to learn all about...
  2. Hello from NH

I don't know that I'd put myself in the experienced category. At least as far as application of vinyl is concerned. My forte is more in the graphic design area which is something I have been doing for 15+ years. My shop is my home. I too am still learning the mechanics of application, cutting...
  3. Hello from NH

There's also Supplies Unlimited in Wakefield, MA. They have general sign supplies (unsure on substrates) but they have vinyl, blades, equipment, etc. Seems to be a small family run business. They were friendly when I visited and picked up some app tape, blades, etc. for a rush job...
  4. Competition for the Versacamm

The Mutoh Junior's are apparently available now. Least that is what I was told by SSK.
  5. Competition for the Versacamm

Yes they can be laminated with any of these. Your mileage may vary......(according to everything I have read).
  6. Competition for the Versacamm

I'm not Fred but the answer is yes. Since most if not all output will be laminated does it matter really? You'll have to remove the vinyl, laminate, then cut. Same process with the Versacamm. The bonus for the Versacamm would be if you don't plan to laminate. I wonder how often that will be...
  7. Competition for the Versacamm

Dang it all to heck!!! (Change words to suit your temperment). Just when I thought I had come to a decision.............. Now what..... :help: Thanks for the info!
  8. Smart Designer?

Screen printing and embroidery I believe.
  9. Good drawing/sketching software??

I use a Wacom tablet (or a Microsoft Trackball Optical) and Corel Draw to sketch/trace with. Gives me good results for the kind of things I work with.
  10. Smart Designer?

I think "posterizing" just equalizes the colors so that if you have 4 shades of light blue it makes it one shade of light blue. Kind of a 1st step before you get to the color swatch mixing/merging step. I could be wrong........
  11. Smart Designer?

I downloaded the "Try-It" Adobe Streamline 4.0 package. BTW, I did get reasonable results using EuroVector last evening. Part of the problem is I'm trying to trace jpegs which seems to be a typical need for me. Am I the only one foolish enough to try to vectorize jpegs and bmp files? Garbage...
  12. Smart Designer?

I know it has to be my unfamiliarity with the program. I've tried with outline mode and without, etc. Are you saying I SHOULD posterize before vectoring? In CorelTrace you just select the type of trace you want and click TRACE. You also get a million more nodes than you need in Corel Trace...
  13. Smart Designer?

EuroVector as promised I promised I would give my impressions of EuroVector Tracing program. To be honest I don't think much of it so far. I have version 1.0. The manual is pretty skimpy and I can't find any "support" for the program on the web. I thought perhaps there would be an update...
  14. Smart Designer?

I haven't forgotten the Eurovector question but I have been wrestling with my PC the past two weeks. I finally installed a new motherboard and hard drive (after the 3rd XP reinstallation) and seem to be up and running again.
  15. Smart Designer?

I haven't had an opportunity to give it a real test yet. When I do I'll give a report.
  16. Smart Designer?

I bought it... Well, I am revisitng this topic. I purchased Smart Designer 11, Creative Concepts, Eurovector and CoCut Pro and upgraded to CorelDraw 11. I'm still figuring out parts of it all. The templates seem very customizable althought they lean toward t-shirt and sports shirt designs...
  17. Smart Designer?

Hello, I have posted this on other forums and haven't really got an answer to my question yet, which is worrisome to me. All I get is advice on OTHER programs that are great to own. I'd love to own them all but that isn't going to happen. Anyway, I have used CorelDraw! since v3. However...
  18. Anybody using Corel 11?

No, I don't work for Corel Corp. I have 9 at home and 11 at work. I'm upgrading at home. One thing I noticed is that none of the stores around here sell it in the store now (CompUSA, Staples, etc). Probably cheaper online anyway. Here's a link to some comments on Corel 11...
