  1. Roland CX-24 and Corel Draw 11 text problems

I'm not sure what the problem is but I just tried it (using Corel 11) using the envelope feature with both True Type (text and text converted to curves) and didn't have an issue with jagged edges.
  2. versacamm sp-300 problem

You can also rotate it in the RIP BEFORE you Rip & Print. Open the EPS in Colorrip, and then look on the left there's INFO, SIZE, etc., tabs. That training gives you enuff information to confuse the hell out of you....then they leave. Good Luck!

Love how you used those fonts!
  5. Rare problem with combining

I've found a lot of the converted vectors have that problem. Problem is its difficult to tell when the layers are one on top of the other and exactly the same. I had some graphics that were over cutting two, sometimes three times and was going nuts looking at the plotter settings. Got...
  6. Coreldraw

Try holding down the F8 key while starting Corel Trace.....you never know.....
  7. How Long Have You Been a Signmaker?

I've been making signs "professionally" for about three years but have been creating graphics including signs for almost 20 years in my full time job.
  8. DPI Question

Cool! I found it (wonder why I never knew it was there) but when I created the menu bar its tiny and unreadable. Must be a customize menu someplace. So, I created a text object, contoured it and the broke the contour. Once that was done I used the "Shape" tool, selected the entire contour...
  9. DPI Question

Streamline doesn't give you the 50 billion nodes that CorelTrace gives you (at least me anyway). I also have issues with CorelTrace freezing up when an as yet unknown number of nodes exists in the trace. This happens when I ungroup the trace. I don't have the fastest PC here but it does the same...
  10. Air bubbles under vinyl

I have to say I got some of that Roland/Avery/Whoever "EZ Apply" and that stuff is awesome! I've done printed 24" x 18" signs on coroplast (my own personal nightmare) with it and the application has been bubble free when I got done with it. I little massaging with a fingertip has eliminated any...
  11. Who Are You?

I'm actually a full-time employee with the Federal gov't. A G-Man ) or is that an "F-Man"? DON'T SAY IT! I've heard them all.... I work for the National Park Service, Dept. of the Interior. Surely you've heard of places like Yosemite, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, etc.? Well I don't work at any...
  12. versacamm sp-300

I'm no expert but I've got a Versacamm and screw it up every chance I get. Post some questions and I'm sure we'll attempt to answer them. Maybe some experts will even chip in.....
  13. Help! Tiling images?

If you're talking about how to design it......If there's a quick way to tile I'm not aware of it, but I'd do this (perhaps its the hard way) Draw a 4 inch square, import your 4" graphic, use the POWERCLIP to put the graphic "inside" your square Draw your mural outline and duplicate your...
  14. Good drawing/sketching software??

I have the Wacom Graphire 3 I believe. It has about a 3 x 4 drawing area. Not sure what the latest model is but this one was about $99 when I bought it. You don't need a huge one. Mine occupies the floor most of the time, so small is good. When I need it on my crowded desk I just get it.
  15. Best Software for the Versacamm

I guess I should have specified that Colorip is the program that comes with the Versacamm. I didn't make that clear in my post above.
  16. Best Software for the Versacamm

Colorip 2.x works well with the Versacamm. Basically, if you can export to EPS (and define a color as "CutPath") you can use any vector program. I use CorelDraw 11 although Colorip doesn't care what program the design was created in. They are basically two stand alone programs. Design, apply the...
  17. Competition for the Versacamm

Key issue, regardless of what you might be told is ICC profiles. I was cussing up a storm there for awhile (I was told just use the "Generic" profiles) and couldn't figure out why I had gobs of ink, bubbles, smears, etc. Changed to the proper profile and "Waa-La!" it looked like it was supposed...
  18. Competition for the Versacamm

Good question. I've never tried it but if you can define a contour, save it or bring back into Corel....and then give the contour outline the color "CutPath", then export, it ought to work. All Colorip seems to care about is the "NAME" of the color outline. I've had nothing but problems with...
  19. Competition for the Versacamm

As it exists, you'll need design software that can export to supported formats. I use EPS because it works via CorelDraw. Using Colorip 2.x, which comes with the Versacamm, you have to define a "color" as "CutPath" to use for cutting operations. The cut path has to be defined (drawn) in the...
