rasterize gradient and add as small amount of noise as possible (photoshop filter). if you have a non-printing area you can brush the noise back out in the 'paper' areas.
Special media for the pigment inks - but the question still remains could you switch it to solvent, add the heaters and print on the wide variety of substrates available to solvent printers?

may or may not be related to what you're getting but - anytime I make a blend from color to black i make it from color to rich black instead of black only. if you go color to 100% black my experience is there will be a gray or washed out area in the middle extending out.

Another place to try is whatthefont.com You can upload an image and it will try and identify it. Once identified you have the option to buy the font if you want. Has helped me several times.
Opening quark files in indesign
Save the quark file down to version 4, then you can drag the quark 4 file onto the indesign icon and it will open in indesign.
You will loose any layers though as they weren't supported in quark 4.
