  1. Weeding after laminating issue

I have learned a lot over the last couple months with trial and error, but this one issue has me stumped. I am using a Summa 4sx to print then laminating with Arlon 3220 and finally contour/flexcutting with a Summa D75. When I was initially testing before laminating I never had an issue with...
  2. Simple newbie laminator question

Okay, got that part figured out, but now I am confused on one other point. Since I will not be going roll to roll, after I end a poster and cut it off how would I keep tension from the rear? Is rear tension even necessary? I would also think it is not wise to leave the upper roller against the...
  3. Simple newbie laminator question

Thanks for both of your input. I actually have a roll of 20 lb bond from an old inkjet that I'm probably going to load on my front roller that I can follow my laminates through. This will be a cheap and easy solution. Thanks again!
  4. Simple newbie laminator question

I am really new at this and have a question that may be obvious, but I would rather not guess. I just purchased the US Tech Pro 65S laminator and will be laminating various size posters. I have watched the videos on setting up the laminator, which is straight forward, but the video shows roll to...
  5. Summa clear vinyl lamination issue?

After some frustrating trial and error I would have to agree. I decided I can't mess around with this if I'm going to take production where I am planning. Buying a laminator tomorrow. Anybody want to buy a lightly used Big Squeegee?
  6. Summa clear vinyl lamination issue?

I have been trying to find an answer to my issue for a week or so, so I am hoping putting this in the Summa forum will get me some feedback from other Summa clear vinyl users or Summa direct. I have a specific application that requires a clear backing, so I sprung for the Summa 3M clear vinyl...
  7. Laminating issues - not adhering to print vinyl

Well, I'm coming to the conclusion I may have to bite the bullet and get a laminator. May be worth the money so I don't lose my mind doing all this with the BS. Totally new to this, so any suggestions on the best value product on a tight budget?
  8. Laminating issues - not adhering to print vinyl

They definitely are better. I have tried to let the print sit before laminating and it doesn't change the outcome. Yesterday I did another test and put a LOT of down pressure as I applied the laminate and it made the slivering 70% better. This morning it is almost gone. It just seems odd that it...
  9. Laminating issues - not adhering to print vinyl

Pretty much laminating immediately. This was actually a question of mine. Does the Summa require any outgassing like solvent? It looks like the silvering is consistent even in non print area, so I wouldn't think it needs to, but better make sure.
  10. Laminating issues - not adhering to print vinyl

That's a good idea. I am going to try to get a few samples to try them out. The more I research, the more I am starting to get a picture of this process. I found this post that gives a good description http://www.signs101.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-80362.html. The biggest issue I have is...
  11. Laminating issues - not adhering to print vinyl

Thanks for the input. I actually went and bought a used table with a laminate surface and it definitely seems to have helped. I am still having a major silvering (just found out that was the term for it) issue. I have watched the videos a ton of times and I am 99% sure I am doing everything...
  12. Laminating issues - not adhering to print vinyl

I am using a Summa to print on their clear vinyl (3m 7725 I believe) and using Arlon 3220 as an overlaminate. I bought the Big Squeegee to get me off the ground and I feel like I am following the directions clearly. My first go I had some bubbles, which I honestly expected, but I have a bigger...
  13. Summa 4sx and lamination?

I have a printing background, but found a new application we purchased a Summa 4sx to pursue. This is a different animal than I'm used to so I'm trying to not make too many mistakes... My application is small labels (4"x6") that are in a very high traffic situation, so durability is critical. I...
