Informative and interesting ... thanks for sharing
  2. Why does my blade wear out so fast - Versacamm

140 is high, but 265 ??? holy cow, you must be cutting deep into the cutting strip at that force, no wonder the blades are wearing out fast. Our Versacamm will cut those substrates easily at about 100 gf ... in fact, anything over 160 and we'd be cutting all the way through the backing paper.
  3. Which media do I need?

Good question, I've always wondered what brand of vinyl substrate some of the big wholesalers (Stouse and Gill-Line) use for their window/vehicle/sports decals. I'm not sure if there is a perfect material, however, the Oracal 3651RA should work. The peeling could be a result of a dirty or...
  4. Blackletter Font ID ... anyone?

I've searched, but no luck. Anyone recognize this one? Need an exact match. Thanks in advance.
  5. Local Lacrosse Club Logo

Top right ... love the font, but not completely sold on the look of the lacrosse "head". Bottom right is ok, but it might look better with three colors (black, yellow and white ... like the top right). The one with the crab is nice, however, I feel like a crab is a little too cliche (unless...
  6. Need a price on tablecloth

If you google it, you find lots of places that do dye-sub trade show table covers. We had ours done by www.TotallyTableCovers.com ... they turned out great.
  7. What caused this in the print?

    Dirty pinch roller maybe?
  8. Newb question.....Ok, I'm not a VEHICLE GRAPHICS person.

Hahaha, I think you're right, the gas tank door is right at the crotch.
  9. Need help from the sublimation guys

That's your regular dye-sub process, which requires the use of dye-sub ink, special transfer paper and a heat press. That's what I thought you were talking about, I just wanted to be sure. Direct-to-substrate dye-sub requires a special printer with a huge price tag (six figure range).
  10. Need help from the sublimation guys

Jay, are you interested in regular dye-sub or direct-to-substrate dye-sub? Big difference between the two.
  11. Versacamm trouble finding registration dot!

Tony, I had a similar problem with the Roland sensor not finding the registration dot. I tried a handful of different things but to no avail. I finally arrived at a solution that works every time now. However, make sure you've checked everything else first (i.e. clean sensor, no "silvering"...
  12. Not liking the new site design.

I agree, having the pages listed on the "home page" is much much better (compared to the old way, clicking on "more"). The optimal set up would be to have the list of pages displayed at the top and the bottom of the page.
  13. Looking for Feedback on the EZY TAPER

I have no experience with the Ezy Taper, but it looks way too time consuming. We use our Royal Sovereign machine everyday. Much quicker and easier than the Ezy Taper (based on what i saw demonstrated on a youtube video). My advice would be to save up and buy yourself a real laminating machine.
  14. Helmet Wraps & Decals

Again, I agree. We're not interested in one-offs. We're also not interested in motorcycle or racing helmets. We're going to do the design work and the print/lam/cut process for multiple sets of decal kits (psuedo-wraps) for sports teams, like hockey, lacrosse and football. We're also not going...
  15. Helmet Wraps & Decals

Agreed, wrapping one helmet isn't worth the time or money. Selling a set of 60 wrap kits that we don't have to apply is a different story.
  16. Magnetic sheeting recommendation

We use Magnum also. Haven't had any issues or complaints from customers (knock on wood). I've read that extreme heat can have a negative effect on magnets (essentially de-magnetizing the magnet or reducing the magnet's holding power). I'm pretty sure it would have to be exterme heat (beyond the...
  17. Magnetic sheeting recommendation

Just out of curiosity, are the issues that you mentioned occurring on stationary metal objects, or just on moving objects (vehicles), or both? Is the issue isolated to a certain thickness (12, 20 or 30 mil) or all of them?
  18. Helmet Wraps & Decals

Thanks for the info Coban ... we'll take a look at the Substance products. We're headed in the same direction with model specific layouts.
  19. Finally made a sign for myself

    Very nice ... looks great!
  20. Helmet Wraps & Decals

Here's a picture of one of the proto-types. The print color & pattern was selected randomly. I believe this one was done with a 2 mil vinyl and a 2 mil laminate just for initial testing. We'll be upgrading to a thicker laminate when we actually go into production.
