  1. What would you do?

I have had both. Started out with a 24" Graphtec and then purchased a used 30" Summa and found it more useful for larger decals and such. If it was me, I would start with a 30" model. I prefer Summa to the Graphtec's but the Summa will cost you a little more. Ken
  2. XC 540 - Asia

XC-540 is made in Japan. Don't risk you money on dealing with people in other parts of Asia. Trust me, I live in China and there are crooks all over this place. They temp you with the cheaper prices and if you actually ever get a printer after you send your money it will not be a Roland. Ken
  3. wrecker graphics

I like it especially the street address but the font for the phone number makes it a little hard to read. Looks good. Ken
  4. SP300 Drain tube plugged

The drain tube removal should be simple. It has been a few years since I replaced the pump on the SP-300 that I had, but it was pretty simple doing that. How long has it been since your pump was replaced? Just asking to see if maybe you have a problem with the pump. Seems like a large tube...
  5. It's the sign of the times... another non-pay question...

Can you just tell the guy if he does not pay for the permits, you will cancel them and then he will have other issues. I do not see anything wrong with telling him that you will cancel the permits unless you get paid for them.
  6. Chrome Vinyl

I have used the chrome but always with an outline of a dark contrasting color. Looked pretty good and was not hard to read. I used the regular Avery chrome but I warned the customers not to expect more than 6 months. Last month when I was back in the states, I saw a truck window I had done 2...
  7. Like hitting the jackpot!

Jill, Wow what a great collection of family history.
  8. Magnetics & double-sided tape

3M vhb (very high bond)makes the very best tape around. I use to purchase it on eBay at a big discount. Same material that auto makers use to adhere body molding on cars. Cannot be beat! Ken
  9. Replacing Main board on my Roland Versacamm

I use to own a SP-300 and the board went out under warranty. The service tech came down from Atlanta with the new board. He knew what he was doing and it took maybe 3 to 4 hours setting up the printer after the board was replaced. The company was jsi sign in Atlanta. Ken
  10. Left or Right Handed?

Write with Left hand. Everything else I am right handed.
  11. Helluva challenge - 15 sprinter buses, 5 days

Wow that is a lot of work in such a short time. How many installers did you have working? Ken
  12. Milling machine vector??

That is true..... Even easier let the Vector Doctor do it for you.
  13. H.S. Art Teacher

    Welcome from China
  14. Warning About Your Xc 540

I had the service tech come and flush my ink lines/heads on my SC-545 before turning the power off for storage. I hope this was the proper thing to do while I decide to sell it or not.
  15. Is it normal that my SP540 can not pull heavy media by itself?

Some banner material sticks to itself on the roll. If this is the case, yes you will have to unroll it some before the printer feeds itself. Does the roll of banner seem to get tugged up off of the rollers before giving you the error?
  16. Someone has purchased spare parts from china?

Could be like an iPhone that I purchased here for $70. It is labeled as an Iphone and looks like one but the operating system is not. There is a local banner shop that has a Mutoh printer next to a Chinese printer. I was surprised to see a Mutoh printer here in China. Ken
  17. Someone has purchased spare parts from china?

Where are they located in China? I live and work here now so depending on how far away they are I will go and check them out. Ken
  18. Advertising New Business

Besides word of mouth, I always like location, location, location. Having a shop that is located on a busy street always is a positive. If you are working out of your home, it might take a lot longer to build customers. I went from 6k one year to 170k sales the next year just by having a retail...
  19. Which machine?

I used a Roland 545ex and out of all of the print jobs I done that got laminated was less than 20%. I am all for printing and getting the job out of the door (actually it was out of the way) and onto the next job as fast as possible. I cringe now thinking how much hassle it would be not to have...
