Never used magnets on a vehicle wrap. I hope you don't plan on putting them directly on the paint. Although the vinyl will cover any scratches or knife marks in the paint. lol

We outsource it to an awning company that sews the hems up for us. We get a choice of colors on the "tape" they use that has made a nice impact on a couple jobs
What is your ink configuration? CMYK (4 color) / CMYKcm (6 color)?
CMYK tends to be grainier in the lighter tones because it doesn't have light cyan and light magenta to fill in the 'gaps'.

Are you inserting partial ink cartridges when reloading the inks? I remember having issues flushing my JV5 with partial cleaning carts. Maybe there's some correlation?
