  1. No W-Pass on VS-640?

Hmm ... this "Intelligent Pass" means, that the passes overlap a little to prevent banding. That should work, no matter if CCMMYYKK or CMYKLcLm. Usual I start with "Generic Vinyl II" to create an individual profile for vinyl. This setting has for all resolutions +PASS. "Generic Vinyl" doesn't...

  3. No W-Pass on VS-640?

Are you working with VersaWorks? If so, there are, afaik, differences between the types of printer. The W-Pass indicates Roland Intelligent Pass Control. To gain this for your printer, you should select a media preset with +PASS or +PASSv2. That should be about the same. But, It's only an idea...
  4. solvent printable art papers

Will be difficult to find those specialities for solvent. That's why I bought a pigment ink printer. Would be interesting to hear about that watercolour paper. Tilo
  5. Hello from Glasgow, United Kingdom of Great Britain.

Hi Paul, welcome. Btw, I'm touring through Scotland every year for a week or so by motobike. Stunning landscape and very friendly people there. Tilo
  6. Seal Laminator

I'm working with a Seal 62 Plus. Hope, it's similar to your machine. Had this problem too. The first 2-3 meters were running straight and then the vinyl became wandering to one side more and more. The solution was adjusting. First the take up unit on the back (not that for the backing paper). Be...
  7. Seal Laminator

I always leave a thickness of about 1 cm of backing paper on the take up tube. So I can easily fix the begin of a new roll with two or three staples. If it becomes to thick I make a longitudinal cut in tubes direction. Prevents from unrolling the complete paper. Only a few inner windings, which...
  8. Minimum charge on small jobs?

It needed me some time to figure out, what's called a PITA customer. Funny. Seems, that these time wasters can be found all over the world. I go with Mosh and similar points of view. These tiny orders may can be combined with bigger ones for effective production and sometimes a large order...
  9. Printer now print streak lines not banding

Would be interesting to know about such a limitation.
  10. Hello from Me

    Hi and welcome from Berlin.
  11. Hello from WI

Wish you luck for your business. Tilo from Berlin
  12. Translucent Avery 2050

Seems to be a misunderstanding. I think TAAG asks for overprint, so printing twice the same image. I've never used translucent Avery but possibly my settings for translucent Orajet 3850 can help. I use my own profile for Orajet 3551, a non translucent polymer vinyl. The four sliders in colour...
  13. Magenta spray when testing

Unfortunal I'm no tech. So don't know how a broken pump tube looks like. But as I see, you've printed a linearisation chart. May be, the magenta channel lays down much to much ink? May be, this over-saturation of magenta results in this bleeding effect. As your pics are not very crisp, it's...
  14. Printer now print streak lines not banding

Which RIP do you use? Tilo
  15. Hi from Germany,

Good morning folks, thanks for the very warm welcome. Love to be here Tilo
  16. Onyx RIP - colour corrections to images only

Don't know Onyx, but in Wasatch, which I use, it is possible to set different separation rules and rendering intents either for vector or bitmap elements and for rgb or cmyk as colour space of these elements. Maybe Onyx has similar settings. Tilo
  17. Color Management on Monitor help please...

The only way to get accurate colours on your screen is calibration and profiling. You need a combination of hard- and software. And, of course, a monitor whith a sufficient gamut. (I would recommend something like an Eizo ColorEdge with colorimeter and dedicated software included.) That means a...
  18. Roland SP540 connection problem

How is it connected? USB, ethernet? Changed any network settings? Try to search for new hardware in device manager of Windows system control (sorry, don't know the exact english terms, as my Windows is German). Change network cable. Maybe, a contact of the plug is worn out. Tilo
  19. Hi from Germany,

Just to say hello ... I'm operating a small digital printing shop in Berlin. We are printing on a Roland Soljet mainly on vinyl, banner and blueback. We have done car wrapping and signmaking as well but sourced most of these jobs out in the last years to focus more on printing and plotting...
