  1. Anyone having this problem-GS6000

I found what it is (almost certainly) - a failing solenoid that releases the carriage latch. To the top right of the carriage against the rail is the catch that secures the carriage between jobs. If it doesn't release you get 1136, some kind of home position error. Push the release manually...
  2. Anyone having this problem-GS6000

This morning our GS6000 would not boot with a service code 1136. (The curiosity is killing me) There was not even a hint of a problem at shutdown last night. I've been running this printer with zero problems for about 10 months now, so fortunately it's still under warranty. Statistically...
  3. Gs6000

Oh make sure to print your pantone charts over silver metallic and gold metallic. I swear the crazy tones you get look just like manufactured films. I ran some gradients of magenta and purple over a scrap of light blue metallic and I was really amazed.
  4. Gs6000

I could see the weave pattern in a pure black job, the first imperfection I had noticed. I was also dissatisfied with the opacity of the print. I rectified it by cranking it up to 16p 1440x1440 to dump a ton of ink on it. It took forever and gassed up the office, so I will look into some...
  5. How long to wait before lamination?

Thanks. I wish 3M had a 1-mil laminate. So thin - it's almost like using nothing at all.
  6. How long to wait before lamination?

I just got an Epson GS6000 and the sales guy says I have to wait 24 hrs between printing and lamination. Further, he says there are post-heater manufacturers who claim their product drives off enough solvent to allow one to laminate immediately, but that the ink and vinyl manufacturers are not...
  7. Epson GS6000 or Mutoh 1614

We got an Epson GS6000 last week and it's very impressive. Then again I may be easily impressed, as I've been printing on a Gerber Maxx2 for the last 6 years! I've been running everything on the cheapy 720x720 bidirectional mode and it's flawless, even in slow gradients.
  8. FC7000 Print/Cut - Maximum Working Area?

Thanks, that's reassuring. I'm going to look for some documentation on onyx and see if I can find some info on maximizing the working space.
  9. FC7000 Print/Cut - Maximum Working Area?

Looking at an HP9000 paired with an FC7000-130: Out of a 36" piece of film, my distributor says I'll only get a 30" graphic. Is that right? I watched their demonstration and they have their pinchwheels set very far inside the film, allegedly to ensure some 50ft guarantee from Graphtec...
