  1. Another Problem With My XC-540

Not sure of the version offhand although it was just updated from Rolands site within the past few weeks so I'm sure its current. This printer is brand new and just recently installed.
  2. Major Cutting Problems Decals - SolJet 3

Tried both, hot and cold. Anyhow...when print/cutting, without taking the media out of the machine that heat stays on.
  3. Another Problem With My XC-540

Aside from my joys of cutting issues, does anyone else experience the following on an XC-540 or other Roland printer............ I'm loading the first job of the day or have changed rolls or have to run set-up again. Now, I go to VersaWorks and send a job. The printer now decides to feed...
  4. Major Cutting Problems Decals - SolJet 3

I don't think there's any way to adjust the roller tension with this machine. Wish there was. This cut-align problem I'm having is driving me frigin crazy.....for example: If I do a cut-align test, the results are fine. Also, yesterday I printed some basic shapes without any ink fill, just a...
  5. Major Cutting Problems Decals - SolJet 3

Recently bought an XC-540 primarily to do small decals with, mostly 2" and 4". Prints just fine until I get to the cutting part where its either high, to the side, low, or all three and just totally screwed up! Happens with all materials but sometimes worse with reflective which I use mostly...
  6. XC-540 Settings For Cutting Reflective

Newbie here looking for some general guidelines. I'll be printing & cutting mostly 2"-4"-6" decals on my XC-540 using Scotchlite 3200 & 680. With a 60 degree blade installed, I'd be interested in some general advice: Best cutting speed. Best blade offset setting. Ideal blade depth...
  7. Cheap Roland Blades?

Just got off the phone with http://www.cleancutblade.com/Home.htm Ordered some blades from them in 45 & 60 degrees. Really nice people..great prices and they guarantee their blades to be better than OEM's. Plus I even got a signs101 member discount! Although I haven't received them yet...I'm...
  8. Cheap Roland Blades?

I just noticed the following website http://www.masterwarehouse.com sells Roland "compatible blades" extremely cheap. Example....pack of three 45 degree $17.99....pack of three 60 degree $26.99. Is anyone using these blades? Are they compatible with an XC-540? Geez, 60 degree blades from my...
  9. Using Drill Press For A Paper Drill???

Yeah, I figured the adhesive would stick the drills up. I think this guy should package these stapled to offset printed cards with a fold on the top that are drilled for hanging. They'd look better and also be uniform. Going to suggest that since this is beginning to look like a nightmare in...
  10. Using Drill Press For A Paper Drill???

Actually, a heavy-duty paper punch just may be the ticket. I'll have to look around for something beefy.
  11. Using Drill Press For A Paper Drill???

The quantities are 100 - 200 decals of a single design. I'm printing about 15 designs for this guy and will probably get re-orders in a month or so.
  12. Using Drill Press For A Paper Drill???

I have a customer that must have his decals drilled so they can be stocked on pegboard hooks for display at stores, etc. Anyhow, aside from buying a paper drill at $1,000 for this one customer....has anyone had any success or experience with running a paper drill bit in a standard drill press? I...
  13. Pinch-Grit Rollers Leaving Tracks On 540XC

Well...turns out I only need the two outside rollers when running vinyl so that eliminates the problem of track marks running up the center. I thought I needed at least one additional pinch roller tracking near the middle...guess not. Regardless, there's no way around these marks on vinyl (I...
  14. Pinch-Grit Rollers Leaving Tracks On 540XC

I was thinking about only turning off the post printing dryer heat...not turning off the pre or print heating....they're only 94 degrees or so which is nothing. Tomorrow's another day....I'll post the outcome of a few experiments this weekend. Going to pick up some different vinyls and play...
  15. Pinch-Grit Rollers Leaving Tracks On 540XC

Possibly the vinyl is too warm when it gets whipped back into the printer for cutting....I'm going to try turning the heat completely off and see what occurs.
  16. Pinch-Grit Rollers Leaving Tracks On 540XC

This is happening on a few different Oracal calendared vinyls...which is all I have here at the moment. My preheat and print heat settings are 94 degrees and the dryer heat is set to 122 degrees...Roland recommended settings.
  17. Pinch-Grit Rollers Leaving Tracks On 540XC

The printer is a new Roland SolJet Pro III XC-540 which is a printer/cutter. I don't believe the tension can be adjusted. When I have 54" vinyl loaded into this, we have 7 pinch roller tracks in the film with the pattern of the lower grit rollers in them. Just wondering if this is normal.
  18. Pinch-Grit Rollers Leaving Tracks On 540XC

Was breaking in my new 540-XC and am noticing "grit pattern track marks" on the vinyl where the pinch rollers make contact with the vinyl. Is this normal? I can actually see fairly pronounced tracks embossed with the pattern from the lower grit rollers on the vinyl.
  19. One More Laminator Post And I'm Done!

Once again...tons of GREAT advice here....I appreciate all your help! Although I'm new to this, I also can't see spending a load of cash on something that basically squeezes a sheet through 2 rollers. These Chinese units are probably just fine. To me at least, the Ding's from PCP and the...
  20. One More Laminator Post And I'm Done!
