Yeah....its been totally derailed! Sorry.
We were asked for opinions on Roland, so I was commenting on machines I used.
Somehow the focus shifted. I was commenting on the print and cut machines as being an issue with drying before cutting. Those I used with Flexi have easy profiling...
Actually ..as I said...its been tested and debunked.
I am lookng for the article now. I think it was in sign of the times...
All myth. Absolutely no quality difference Noted....I do it all the time. If it's dry to the touch...it's able to be laminated.

Check the carriage belt and motor...
Sounds like its slipping.

PF encoder is not the same as the CR encoder...

Carefully lean it well with alcohol on a lintfree cloth
travels 15 cm then throws an error??
I just reread the original issue...if it travels 15cm prior to the error...you are probably missing teeth on the CR motor belt.
When it gets tot eh missing teeth, the motor torgues that little bit to trigger the er.
Open the machine up and you will find it...
Generally when diagnosing an older machine, you get a trial and error type of diagnostics.
You started with the encoder strip...
You cleaned it well? allow the alcohol to dry and its still an issue.
Is there damage to it
It may need to be replaced if there was a heavy buildup
But first...
