Hi all,
Curious what the grand format printers here are using to lift and load rolls. I used to have a mechanical lift cart that was great, but I can't seem to find anything like it now.
Thanks!
Trying to get it running on our latex right now. Got profiles dialed in and am color testing but ran into a weird issue. I'm hoping it is just the roll I have because there is so little of this material available right now.
tomence - Purchased directly from HP.
cdiesel - Had trouble with 15oz blockout banner yesterday as well as 13oz scrim from Ultraflex. Using Onyx x10 for the rip so we are good there. Just having some troubles with the media settings on the machine. It seems like the 15oz would start out...
So the LX850 is installed and we've finished our training with HP. Mixed bag of success so far. We've gotten Oracal 3651 and some paper products to run well, but we've been having issues with pretty much everything else.
Any helpful hints and suggestions for machine settings (heat/tension)...
Ultraflex (and most scrim banner) tend to have a little fuzz on the edges of the roll that will wipe against the bottom of the jet plates and cause little drops like this. You can take a propane torch or lighter and hit the ends of the roll for a split second and burn them away.
Yippee. Owner went to ISA last month and bought some goodies. HP here installing it now.
Planning to replace our Jeti 3318, 3 HP 5500s and a Z6100.
The shell sure looks like an empty carcass compared to other grand format machines I've been witness to, but we'll see!
The GS vs QS debate is a JOKE. Major improvement in print quality.
Additionally, they are introducing a completely new machine that is supposed to "revolutionary" at Drupa.
The new Rho is interesting, but I don't see that large of a speed increase, only quality. I'm more interested in hearing/seeing the new Vutek after Drupa.
the LED lamps are super expensive because they almost never need to be replaced compared to traditional UV bulbs which should be replaced regularly and cost $1000~ish depending on make and model, but the PV200 is not LED.
The PV200 is on the tankish side. Not really the greatest quality...
After previous failure Vutek is attempting to kill screen printing again! The DS was a massive failure at Drupa 4 years ago. Next month they will unleash the "Orion".

because UV ink sits on top of the media as opposed to solvent ink which bites in, laminating prints has a much larger PITA factor as well and a lower success rate.
that being said, I have laminated plenty of UV prints and had it work fine. You just have to wipe the prints down as they are...
We've tried that in the past on our gandi flatbed before we upgraded to the Vuteks. We found that removing the liner created a large amount of static that produced other print problems. Glad it is working for you.
We did product testing and printed their tradeshow panels for them. What specifically are you looking to find out about this material? Printability, durability...?
