  1. Best setup for high volume signs/decals

The signs and really mixed use and get installed both indoor and outdoor. We mainly use oracal 3551/290 and easily get 5-7+ year outdoor durability. We don't want to switch to a process that results in shorter outdoor life. What is the expected outdoor life printing with your Mimaki, with and...
  2. Best setup for high volume signs/decals

I've thought of this as well and the short 3 year life wont work for us. Cant you print a clear uv coat with some flatbeds? Or does laminating the printed substrate get you up to the longevity of an eco solvent print/lam? What about latex flatbeds? If you cant get good outdoor life with a...
  3. Best setup for high volume signs/decals

    No 20 hours for (1,000) 8"x4" 040 aluminum signs.
  4. Best setup for high volume signs/decals

We have an older piranha that I guess we could use. But punching holes would be much much slower on that than using the hole press, same for rounding corners. Unless newer iron workers are much different than what we have, I don't see how one would be useful?
  5. Best setup for high volume signs/decals

Lately we've been doing a lot more higher volume jobs. Small signs and stickers. For example 8"x4"" 040 aluminum warning signs, and 6"x4" warning or notice stickers. Currently we only have roll to roll printers (roland and epson s80) plotters, laminators. The stickers are straight forward...
  6. Help With Laminator Purchase

How did you disable them? We asked our supplier about that and he said the laminator won't function if they are disabled.. Figured that was not true but haven't messed around with it.
  7. Help With Laminator Purchase

We don't have a problem mounting, mounting just isn't the best suit for the kala laminators.
  8. Help With Laminator Purchase

We have a kala, it's great at laminating. Mounting vinyl to substrates is another story, our 9 year old RS does much better at this. To be fair, I don't think they built it to be good at mounting, but they don't really tell you that. Trays on the kala are small which hinders mounting. The...
  9. Vinyl with no markings on liner

Substance Media Icon 3750 vs Briteline Duration - IM5651? We have zero experience with either media, and brand for that matter, I think these are their top quality vinyls for my purpose. The Icon claims 7 year durability, I like this but never heard of the brand before. Briteline claims 5...
  10. Vinyl with no markings on liner

Thank you for all the suggestions. The substance Icon pm3750 looks pretty good by the stats. Does anybody have any first hand expierence with this stuff? How is it with shrinkage? Just never really heard of the brand before.
  11. Vinyl with no markings on liner

Looking for solvent printable vinyl that has no manufacturer markings on the back on the liner. Need it to be fairly decent vinyl, minimum outdoor rating of 5 years, permanent adhesive, good resistance to shrinking.
  12. Question laminating issues with Alupanel and Max metal from Grimco in Toronto

We had several sheets of max metal very similar to this recently from Grimco. You could actually see a faint crease running up the middle in the right lighting. Our kala laminator gave us trouble mounting prints onto these boards. We ran them through our Royal Soverign laminator and they came...
  13. Where do I get the BEST?

This is exactly what's happening IMO. What you need is a vendor running a Solvent printer, with a minimum inkset of CMYK lc lm lk, run in a high pass mode (slowed down) at it's highest resolution. lk ink really does wonders for grays/shadows. There are solvent machines out there with...
  14. Epson S80600 stuck at a prompt, need a solution.

Grimco has them. Don't see why they couldn't ship to you?
  15. Epson S80600 stuck at a prompt, need a solution.

    Pop in a cleaning cart.
  16. Epson ink Price Increase

Epson raising prices on GS3 inks 10%. Seems kinda steep?
  17. Demo Model F1612 Flatbed Available

Hmmm why such good deals? Something new coming down the line?
  18. Roland VG to VG2 Firmware removes service mode, end user access deleted??

I'm seeing a ton of push back here and on other sites/FB groups about this forced lockout. Is Roland working on a better solution? Or are they jumping off the bridge?
  19. Looking for a new printer....need your opinions

I wouldn't suggest a latex for your situation at all. The pros to latex are the ability to print on more specialty materials such as fabrics. And that they don't have any drying time before lamination. Neither of which seem important to your setup. The poor print quality, inconsistent colors...
  20. Disabling Epson S60600 Auto Cleaning

Of course. I'm sure the wasted ink doesn't bother them either $$$. But in reality, all anybody needs to do is unplug the printer if they want it to stop cleaning. This is all about controlling end of life for printers to ensure that a shop doesn't hold on to a printer for 5-10+ years. Look...
