  1. Cost of ink per sqft? HP Latex 800

Have you done color calibration on both printers? I'd start over and do a full color calibration / profile. They should both be pretty dang close to eachother after that.
  2. Photoshop Beta / Generative Fill

I have no doubt what it did was analyze the image, then decide to add someone else based on there being 2 others in the image... but according to photoshops own how to - Which is exactly what I did... selected a person, hit generate with no prompt...And it just completely replaced him instead...
  3. Photoshop Beta / Generative Fill

The thing with AI as well, every software is going to have its own terms of service that restricts it... making it pretty much useless. Yes, there needs to be rules... and maybe photoshop is just being overly sensitive right now. I tried to add "Fighter jets" to the vancouver skyline... but...
  4. Photoshop Beta / Generative Fill

It's... a weird program. It has a long way to go, but it does show that theyre getting better with AI art / prompts. I I downloaded a random stock image of people, I wanted to see how it'd do selecting a person, typing no prompt and doing a generative fill. I first selected the guy on the...
  5. Edit Onyx .xml cut files or export as .xml from EnRoute

Ungroup everything, have your cut lines on a separate layer. When you resize the art board.... Draw a square the same shape art board on the top layer. Hide your artwork, select the square and any shape that is hanging out past the square. Go to Pathfinder and intersect(or whatever the...
  6. Edit Onyx .xml cut files or export as .xml from EnRoute

You can edit it in the cut server - just right click the stray line and tell it to delete path. It'll probably screw up the piece that has an open cut... but theres not much you can do about that.
  7. Suggestions Insurance coverage

Insurance companies want to take zero risk. Our insurance company threatened to drop us for selling acyrlic barriers.... Because an acyrlic barrier is a "medical device" and if someone catches covid they could sue because the barrier wasn't good enough. So we were the only company not making...
  8. Want to buy Graphtec cutting plotter knife blade holder???

Its $800 now, not 650... I was wrong! This is just the first google search, but you can find out the fee for your country by searching for "de minimis" + your country. I was always jealous because canadas is $20... now $40 for taxes, 150 for duties, and America is so much higher, you guys are...
  9. Want to buy Graphtec cutting plotter knife blade holder???

Isn't USA duty free like $650? My biggest business is shipping stuff to USA, I avoid ups because even if there's $0 duties owed they charge a $30 brokerage fee to tell you that. Every other carrier and my customers don't have to pay a thing.
  10. RIP needed??

You can get it direct if you go the subscription method, which I believe is $100 a month. Or you can buy it from a re-seller, which is around 3-4000 one time fee
  11. Moving from Onyx 21 to Caldera RIP

You pay your designer $100 for a days worth of labor? No wonder they take a whole day to add bleed / cut path to 55 jobs... :roflmao: Asuming its vectors (Even if not) You can create an Action in illustrator to do it automatically at the press of a button. A few sanity checks/zooms to make...
  12. ? printing direct on magnetics

Even with our flatbed we don't print direct.... Just isn't worth it. If someone bought a thousand magnets or something, maybe it would be - but most people buy 5-10... It's faster to print on the vinyl that's already loaded and just mount it to magnet, and less risk.
  13. Stand offs

It looks the same to me as if someone were to do screws! If you REALLY want it to blend in - I have a customer who makes me print a sqft of each color on certain signs.... Then she goes overtop of the screws with that vinyl. It blends in pretty good... rather than paint, print a few FT of...
  14. new roland truvis machine coming should I get white

White isn't good unless you're outsourcing a lot of white decals. . I'd say white ink doesn't fall under the "buy it and the jobs will come" category. Weve used 1 cartridge of white ink in the 2 years we've owned our printer - we also don't go advertise we do white ink, but in our industry...
  15. Nix Color Sensors

Get a colour muse for $50. It'll scan a lab value, then you put that lab value into onyx and it's a pretty close match. It's not good for profiling your printer... And you need your printer profiled for it to work good. So you still need a proper profiler But it's good for sales reps to...
  16. DO NOT Buy Vinyl Master

Works fine for me. They also give you a 3p day trial, don't need to buy anything to try it out.... So why not demo it before dropping money on it? I don't use it for a rip as it's not great for that, but I have used it in a pinch on 3 different printers.... So If they say it works with your...
  17. Graphtec FC 9000 marks for long cuts

We've been dealing directly with the graphtec engineers, not just their support techs. They ruled out wheels / frictions / and a slew of other things - if it were wheels or not feeding straight, the cuts would not complete - which isn't the case. The. It's are always perfectly aligned...
  18. Graphtec FC 9000 marks for long cuts

Sadly its not an easy fix! I'm one of the ones having issues with the FC9000 cutting off. Mine doesnt go off much... but its nowhere near as accurate as the 8600. The first row will be fine, then it'll slightly shift - so small stickers are an issue... but anything big is ok / accurate...
  19. Where do you go for supplies

You'd think.... However a lot of stuff is made with American in mind. All of our air hoses and a lot of our fittings are in Imperial even though Canada is a metric company. Almost everything I buy from our suppliers is measured in feet and in pounds. To be honest I'm more comfortable working...
  20. Where do you go for supplies

We've been using typical .25" from home Depot on our flatbed for a year, and it's been perfectly fine.
