  1. Jurassic Park Logos

Since when we're we a forum that openly broke copyright laws  I'm sure even in the UK it's against the law to reproduce graphics you don't own...
  2. Used Aluminum Composite Sign Panel Sheet

We recycle where we can. Yeah... A roll core or two makes it to the trash been every week.. but the bulk majority of what can be recycled gets recycled. We have a 40 ft garbage bin that gets picked up every week and a half.... There's sooo much garbage in our industry. And we pay by the lb...
  3. Used Aluminum Composite Sign Panel Sheet

We were told to recycle it, we'd have to seperate the metal and plastic.... We tried for about 5 minutes and then threw it in the trash.
  4. Bought a new laser engraving cutting machine, need help with setup please.

Check Facebook or elsewhere... Facebook has tons of info on Chinese printers. I just bought an omtech! I went into it knowing it'll need lots of setup and work. It's a step above true chinese lasers, but way, way lower than trotec. It arrived with one of the limiters broken, so the machine...
  5. HP Latex (300 series) belt snapped

I changed mine out - it's easy... Hardest part is getting the left and right side off. Other than that it's a cake walk
  6. What the heck is IJ-40 anyway?

I get to correct you for once! How the tables have turned  Ij35 is polymeric as well.... I don't think 3m Does anything monomeric.... At least nothing we use. Mono shrinks so much...
  7. Need some help with an FC9000 Graphtec

Sounds like a USB issue to me... if it cant find the file its not reading the USB disk properly. We have a USB we use for about 30 repeat jobs and its never had an issue - so it does "Work", We have a few diff USB types and one of the types I bought doesn't work in the graphtec at all... it...
  8. Question does "preparing for long term storage" really work?

I mean, you could risk it. But the science seems pretty sound.... When the ink touches the air it evaporates the alcohol and dries. Even capped, the head isn't air tight.... So without daily cleanings .. it stands to reason the ink would dry, and with how tiny the nozzles are, it doesn't take...
  9. Question does "preparing for long term storage" really work?

The thing that ruins the heads is the pigment drying and clogging the nozzles. If it's off for too long,.it can also clog all the ink lines.... Which is a pain. "Preparing for long term storage" is pretty much flushing the lines with a solvent that evaporates and has no pigments in it - if...
  10. Drilling through sheet metal into brick wall

We do a lot of ACM signs like this in parkades - 75% of the time they don't want any fasteners... A few strips of vhb tape, and if it's not that nice if a surface a couple dabs of construction glue and the signs hold up for years. Best way is fasteners though. If all you have is a hamner...
  11. Non Adhesive clear

Ive been production manager for a few years now, and hired someone to do all the printing... I miss it, I still handle the printing when the other guy is on vacation... It's sooo much more peaceful and less hectic than trying to manager 20 people :roflmao: most of my day is now fixing other...
  12. Air Quality By You

Arent all the temperature reading stations up high on towers at (mainly) airports? I don't think they make trees that high! I'm sure they do have lower sensors as well .. or they wouldn't get an accurate reading. Global warming is real, though! Whether it's caused by mankind, or it's just a...
  13. Need some help with an FC9000 Graphtec

That must be brutal. I'm assuming there's a PC at both locations? Why not run a virtual network, something like tailscale is super easy to use to link the 2 PC's, then you can just run the barcode server in building 2 and everything will be sent over... No need to run a usb drive over...
  14. Air Quality By You

West coast isn't too bad... I think right now east coast is crazy though. I feel like the weather has got crazy in the past 5 years. Every year we break temps - so many more forest fires happening... And we're in the rainy season in Vancouver, should be raining a lot this month and last...
  15. Non Adhesive clear

8918 is usually clear for us, but it gets marks after it goes into the printer - I think it dragging against the little ribs on a latex printer.makes.it cloudy. But it can be wiped away (at least ours) .I think all 7725s use the same backer.... so it might not work then. I've never paid...
  16. Non Adhesive clear

This is a bit overkill.... But 3m optically clear overlam for window perf comes on a clear backer, and it's printable with solvent and latex. Just don't peel it off the liner! 8518 would work too... but it's more of a yellowish liner / look to it? Might work good enough and it's cheaper...
  17. Price check: Install 4 posts along a hillside

Solo, for the most part. He has a small shop. Were about 4 days with 1 person, but he's getting old and slow. We have 3 installers. Myself (production manager) a sign maker, who does all the other stuff as well. And our graphic artist. We try to limit the 1 person to installs... With the...
  18. Price check: Install 4 posts along a hillside

I charge what I think a job is worth. I hate vehicle wraps - so we usually quote 2-4k depending on the job... Were quite a bit higher than the other shops around here, but if im going to do a wrap.... I'm going to make it worth my time. My buddy owns a shop and charges $18-2000 for a full...
  19. Premasked striping woes

Are you using bubble free vehicle grade vinyl? We do stripes like that all the time with 3m 2080. We premask them all to keep the spacing... Going over curves and other areas isn't hard, if there's bubbles you see it in the premask, then You just lift up and re apply. On super concaved areas...
  20. Laminating perforated vinyl

What optically clear are you using? We use optically clear all the time on perf and it's fine... You can still see out of it just as if nothing was on it. We use Avery and 3m optically clear, or 8518 when we're lazy as it's pretty optically clear as well.
