When you did the head alignments in service mode, did you do all of them or just the bi-directional? You should do all of them and then the bi-directional in the user mode, as well...
This should fix your problem. Do the detail version, not the simple version, better results. The fact your results are what you want in Uni-directional confirms it's a bi-directional issue.
Please confirm, you swapped the ribbons only at the printhead side and left them in their original position on the carriage board. That is crucial for this to be a valid test! Otherwise, you are only confirming the ribbons are good. See the attached illustration. It's for a 4 head setup, so only...

Then I stand corrected. It's been a while since I punched the buttons on an SP-540V. So, instead, go to Menu - System and print it. The current IP address should be in this file. The Intercon Nettool should allow you to set the IP address in the printer.
