  1. mutoh vj-1624 magenta cartridge reads 100% but says check magenta

Sub tank hi means the machine was expecting the hi sensor to flag but it times out. This usually means either the sensor is malfunctioning, the flag that flags is has been knocked out of place, or ink isn't flowing into the tank. Have you taken a look at the sub tanks yet?
  2. Versacamm SP-300i - alignment or calibration issue?

If you just installed a new head you need to run all of the alignments in service mode. If the print direction in your images is left and right, your vertical alignment is off which is a physical adjustment of the head position.
  3. 2 of the same Roland printers print different results??

Even two brand new printers one serial number apart will have slightly different results. Calibrating the printers to print with similar results requires custom profiling.
  4. HELP - Troubleshooting - yellow has disappeared

That's the way of these machines! One little bit of air getting in throws it all off. Glad to hear it was something simple!
  5. Question Roland VS-300 cut 20 mil vinyl?

Looks like the official spec is 16 mil including the liner. But you might be able to get it to work.
  6. HELP - Troubleshooting - yellow has disappeared

It sounds like it's possible the cap top is the issue. You might be getting inconsistent suction from the current one which is why it seems to be coming and going. If the cap top doesn't do it, I have been seeing ink flow issues on these older models. I usually just change out the ink lines and...
  7. HELP - Troubleshooting - yellow has disappeared

When you did the damper swap to see if yellow would print in another channel, did the color you swapped it with also not print in the yellow channels? When you flush the yellow channels, did you see cleaning solution come out of any other of the channels other than yellow?
  8. Roland VersCAMM SP-300i Carriage Separation

I've used 70% alcohol for years but a another tech on here suggested I only use 90% as the 70% has too much water which can cause issues. I think you'd be ok with either but if you can get 90% use that.
  9. SP-300 - New printhead?

I agree that there is a possibility the quality is still good enough he might be able to get by. I have some customers who won't accept the smallest defect in a print and others who will print with 50% of nozzles missing. Everyone has a point where they won't sell it anymore. These heads are...
  10. Roland VersCAMM SP-300i Carriage Separation

Bad encoder strips can do some weird things that don't seem to make sense so it's worth a shot for sure. In my experience that magenta streak is usually caused by an electrical issue though. Could be bad head cables, trailing cables or a bad head. Rarely it's a damaged main board but that's a...
  11. SP-300 - New printhead?

That's a pretty good amount of deflection in the black. I don't usually see heads recover from that very often. You can try doing some head soaks and as a last resort you could flush the head manually but that can also damage the head internally. It's worth a shot if you're prepared to get a new...
  12. Wiper Blade

Are you saying that there is more ink on the wiper than usual? I'm not sure what would cause that but wiper is something you should be cleaning fairly regularly so it's expected to have ink on it fairly often.
  13. Mimaki vs Roland

The reason techs are so hit and miss is because the training usually consists of learning how to install the printer and not how to troubleshoot and fix it. It does go through how to change a head but that's mostly so you can learn how to do the alignments at install. After that the tech has to...
  14. Mimaki CJV150-130 Wrong Ink IC error

True for anything the ink touches. If your main board blows for some reason however, it should still be covered. But if the head clogs the first question they ask on the warranty request is what ink are you using.
  15. Mimaki UV inks expire sometimes in a month, beware

I know on the Mutoh solvent MS31 inks, even when they expire the printer lets you keep printing like nothing is wrong. Do the UV Mutoh inks actulaly lock you out?
  16. Mimaki UV inks expire sometimes in a month, beware

The short shelf life of UV inks is a common problem. As a Mimaki dealer we only stock inks that we have a large customer base for to avoid them expiring on our shelf or making customers mad when they see the shot date. All others we drop ship to get the freshest date. If you had the machine...
  17. Washed out colors with illuminated lightboxes

It's a fairly common issue but worth bringing up once in while to see how everyone is doing it these days. The double strike or overprint option in your RIP is used for this in a lot of cases where it prints the same pass multiple times to get more ink density. The problem is ink pools up and...
  18. Need Help Mimaki JV150-160 wont output black color

The first thing you want to check is if there is actually ink in the black cartridge. Sometimes they are empty and don't flag the printer properly. If that's not the issue then I would suspect the dampers need to be changed.
  19. Production Manager Issue

It looks like you're using two different spot colors in one file. Make sure the lines in the design file are actually named the same spot color.
  20. Any tricks to make HP Latex 54 Plotter cut finer, better detail? (sample pics attached)

Did you change your offset setting when changing blade types/angles? If not, you might try again and make sure to change that setting. I would think a higher angle blade would be better for the higher detail.
