  1. increase in aluminum?

I havent noticed the climb in aluminum yet, but a friend who is a purchaser for a large manufacturer said his steel pricing went up 100% last quarter. I frequently use coremark metals (used to be discount steel) and last week they had to call me back and charge me more for my already placed web...

  4. Formed sign face help needed

Get a quote from Quality Manufacturing (twin cities) they are good to work with, make sure you measure at least twice!
  5. Just In Free Video Tutorial on Using Filemaker to Manage Jobs

Awesome work, even for those using other user interfaces for database type job tracking (we are on airtable right now) it helps to explain how records are linked and multiple tables are used. Keep up the good worked. Subscribed!
  6. Led flex tubing

I'd be interested to see if anyone has ventured to use products other than g2g and how they held up. The stuff is super cheap on eBay amazon etc., but the name brand stuff is quite expensive (relatively). There is always money to be made if you have the right customer, if you have had several...
  7. Question Sign Engineering and Wind Load Calcualtions

This site used to have a free calculator and you could pay for stamped drawings, they just switched to a subscription service. I think they still have some cheap generic plans that you can use for most small signs. If you look through the resources on that site they have an excellent description...

Hello, what are you looking to get for the Leister welder, how old is it and I am assuming you are willing to ship? Thanks, Evan
  9. Insurance - what do you recommend?

From my experience the last couple years dealing with similar questions I would get ahold of a broker who is experienced with BOP (business owner policy) or TPP (tailored protection policy). The recommended coverage really depends a lot on who you trust, what you do most, and what risk you want...
  10. HDU primer

Brad and others thanks again for sharing your experience, it is tremendously helpful for us with years less experience!
  11. Looking for paint recommendations for ACM / ACP

Thanks for the info Brad! I enjoy learning from others experience when they are willing to share. I do not have a film gauge yet but plan to get one as I continue experimenting. I forgot to mention that the topcoat for my test was done as two passes per the PDS recommendation (assuming I...
  12. Looking for paint recommendations for ACM / ACP

I agree that a 2k poly (acrylic polyurethane for those learning) is by far the best, I personally prefer Mathews, but it is often over complicated and cost prohibitive for some projects. This is especially true for shops that outsource painting. As stated in the original post I wanted to explore...
  13. Looking for paint recommendations for ACM / ACP

An update on what I have experimented with so far: Based on a recommendation I tried some sherwin-williams "extreme bond primer" top coated with their "all surface enamel" in high gloss, I used the latex version but they also have an oil based option of the same paint. I couldn't get an...
  14. color washed on mutoh same print file? have to reprint entire truck... help!

What version flexi? What do you do for color management? Just using "the same" file and even the same printer/ink doesn't mean much, there are many many variables including settings. If you give more details we can probably be more helpful. Just playing around and changing the color settings...
  15. Fletcher Substrate Cutter

From talking with several reps, acm will do that unless clamped well. If you look at safety speed cuts dustfree cutter (similar setup) it has sliding stops to help keep the cut square.
  16. Fletcher Substrate Cutter

We picked one up at an auction a couple years ago, works good for the most part but we rarely use it. If anyone is looking for one I would consider selling and going to a table-mounted version. The problem we run into isn't with the machine, its the banana shaped coro sheets, which is the most...
  17. Question Flexi Subscription can't utilize "Send email" feature!

What build are you running? Mine still works (I use it several times per day), but I am not on the latest build I don't think, I am running Flexi design 19 sp2 Build number 3078 (subscription). Our other machine has FS12 perpetual license.
  18. Need Help Joining ACM

Same for us, use quality material that isn't going to shrink back and/or wrap around edge. Here is one we did recently, both sections are two panels butted together.
  19. Bull Crap of the day

I have had stuff show up on the PM preview and not print but it has always been vectors IIRC, I have also had stuff not show in the preview and then print just fine. I don't usually trust the PM preview much, especially for color previewing. Give us some better detail on workflow and file type...
  20. Bull Crap of the day

Hmmm no idea on that one, are you bringing the bitmap straight into PM or into Flexi then rip and print?
