I confirm this. I've used plenty of acrylic sheet as dry erase and 60% of them will eventually gets permanent ghosting. Other than glass, I did not found another clear rigid substrate that would work
No it's not backlit. Just installed on painted drywall. I agreed with everything you've mentioned about the security. But before telling them not to do it, I wanted to check my options.
I was also thinking to reduce the thickness to 1/4. I saw some prints like this on walls and they don't have...
I've been using bannerups tapes for quite some time now (clear power tape). Very good products. I've tried their pole tape pro too. I have 50 4ft X 6ft pole banner installed in a city with lot of wind for almost a year now and they all still there.
I have a customer that require a 4ftX4ft acrylic that is 1/2in thick with a second surface print (clear print with white vinyl on the back) to be installed on a wall without standoff. He want something invisible. Can I just use VHB tape? Do we will see the tape through the vinyl/print?

the full cover print idea was my first route, but they want to keep the metallic effect of the door. And they want a particular rust color. So it's a print or a special treatment or paint.
It's lot of small rectangles. If it was just one piece, I wouldn't bother with premask. I think the larger piece is 7ft long. So I could put them between two sheet of something. But with a total of 300 linera feet, I think it will become heavy to transport in the stairs/elevator.
I've got a customer that is asking me to make dark rusted roll-up door with a logo for the reception wall. I'm not sure where to start. The colors are the same as the picture bellow. Size needed is 7ftX7ft.
So I have an upcoming job that will require 300 linear feet of 3m dusted vinyl (48in roll) with the SCPS-53X premask. The biggest piece will be 4ftX8ft. I've had problem in the pass with the premask tunneling from the part that have no vinyl and not stick very well to the liner directly.

I've talked with 3 DC4 owner before buying the printer and all of them told me it was a problem. Bad tech? Here in Canada, there is only one dealer that can sell the DC series. So I don't have much option. It would be a great thing to print over the 11.8in.
Don't print larger than 4in with the DC or you will have banding. I was about to pull the trigger on one and the rep/tech never been able to avoid the banding. I was ready to buy an gerber FX but found a great deal with an gerber EDGE II & envision 375
It is exactly what I was thinking. But I hoped that someone would have a solution.
I will try it on my own glass first, but since it's for interior design purpose, I think I will just rethink the whole design.
I got this job that will require to print an image on transparent vinyl without white ink. The effect is to have a ''transparent'' image. My concern is the windows are 7ft large X 8ft high, so I need to put a seem in the middle.
