  1. matching color from a photo

I would say that the colour is actually made up of thousands of colours..grabbing one pixel won't work. I thought the same thing way back when my printer weas new and I never could get a bright rich red, and then I printed a photo and the colour was perfect...on closer examination you see that...
  2. Graphtec plotter making clackity clackity sounds

Yesterday it was really loud and then suddenly it just stopped with a y axis error. I could feel the head getting stuck by just moving it with the power off. Not getting stuck in one particular spot but random spots. I opened both ends up and it was very clean inside. I manually moved the y...
  3. Graphtec plotter making clackity clackity sounds

Just an update...still cuts great but the noise is super loud now. I tried opening the cover but once open there are still the connections to the controls on top that don't give you a lot of room to move around with fear of breaking the lines. Going to try again and see if I can isolate just...
  4. 3m, Avery, Techwrap, Vvivid charging for sample books

I agree...I have never been dinged for colour charts.
  5. clear vinyl and overlam

I have on occasions printed on lam. The backing paper is much thinner than most vinyls adding heat will cause buckling or even tunneling, depending on the brand. 2ml lam is great to print on I must admit.
  6. production manager not recognizing contour cut

I use a much older flexi program, but have found that when I rip and print, anything grouped such as contour cuts will not get printed unless they are ungrouped. Strange but true
  7. Been using this for a long long time...........................

I had it happen to white ford pickups...thankfully the new logos covered it. I thought it was caused possibly from the rubber nubs being worn down to much, but yours look pretty good and fairly new. I wonder if it is the clear coat burning
  8. Mimaki printer using more cyan from one cartridge then the other?

I changed the other one 1 month ago and less than 1 month the time before and usually get 3 months out of them so it is taking from the one and not the other. I will switch out both Thanks for the advice I appreciate it
  9. Mimaki printer using more cyan from one cartridge then the other?

Thanks, but my thinking was that you need 2 cartridges and can't just run 1..how is this possible? I just rocked it and it seems pretty empty . the printer says both are at 1 yet only indicates that one is near end and it isn't the one from May. I guess I could just put a new cartridge in when...
  10. Mimaki printer using more cyan from one cartridge then the other?

I have a low ink warning and when I check the cartridge I just changed it last month, yet the other cyan has not been changed since may!!!! What the heck is going on here? Prints are great and it is a 10 year old jv3 130spII
  11. Question Printing on non digital material

I have printed on 2ml and 3ml vinyl on my solvent and never any problems. I might say that the backing paper is thinner and you may get the odd head strike unless you latch them up. I have a fleet of taxis I do, and they have a yellow and black checker board stripe along the sides. I tried...
  12. Wall Wraps

I think the main difference between 3ml and wall material is that the wall material is thicker and goes over the surface better not showing the texture of the painted wall...it also has removable adhesive I believe.. Regular vinyl when caught in a glare looks like bubble hell
  13. Disposing of discharged ink

Dry ink is OK as the solvents have gassed off in your shop.
  14. Disposing of discharged ink

\ Why bother with kitty litter which makes more waste...how about just spreading it all in your dumpster and allow all the discarded backing paper , ruined prints and premask and coro bits absorb it..... I don't do that but curious as why we shouldn't as over a few days it will basically...
  15. Need Help Remove & Replace job... Vinyl won't come off

I had a quart of this stuff and never used it, then a few weeks ago I get this cab in to retrofit the graphics to a new company and the decals on the doors were clear mylar..OMG that stuff just breaks up and heat gun or steamer hardly did a thing. I decided to try this vinyl off and I am not...
  16. Big clients that don't pay on time?????

The good thing about doing work for larger companies is that it is real work for purchasing to set you up as a vendor... Nobody wants to do more work than is necessary, so if the work you do for them keeps them happy, they have no reason or want to look around and have to reset up new vendors...
  17. What do you use to dust off prints?

The swiffers work well, you just have to change them out as they static charge seems to diminish over time

  19. how to recover cut files from Flexi

A transformer blew up yesterday across the street from us and 500 businesses were powerless for over 3 hours. When the power came back my print comp had an issue with windows and would not start up. 6 months ago I had all the hard drives cloned and keep them for just this reason. swapped out...
  20. Need Help Car Wrap Vinyl Removal - How to sell it? Explaining the high price to customers

It's one of those services whereby you can't give them a real price until the job is done... Customers will assume you are adding time when it takes 8 hours legit. I personally hate removing vehicle graphics...even at $80 per hour I can be making more money designing / printing or cutting...and...
