  1. Charging to pull permits...

Is the permit in your name or the installer's name. There is a question of liability. If the installer is pulling the permit under their name (which I think is right) they are liable for any and all issues that could occur with that sign. So if it falls or sets a building on fire, they will be...
  2. Trying to justify the time spent with customers...

I also struggle with this issue of spending too much time on a job and not getting paid for it. We are working on several "solutions". First thing is separating the design time from the sign product and pricing it accordingly. Charge for site visits. Sometimes it takes a long time just to figure...
  3. Upgrading Corel from X3 opinions

I went from X3 to X7. There are a lot of really good improvements but I must say there are several "bugs" that I don't like. Or maybe it's just me. But for example when I do "shift, page up" to bring an image to the top it doesn't seem to work unless I first click on "save". I didn't have that...
  4. Pricing this job...unreasonable?

When he said "installed" was that to install the print on the Alumalite or to install the sign at the location?
  5. Wall covering for cafe above counter

That sounds like the way to go. Now I just need to find someone in my area that I can sub it out to that I know will do a good job.
  6. Wall covering for cafe above counter

Thanks for your reply. I'm very apprehensive about doing large size prints in reverse. How do you check alignment/registration if you can't see through the back side? The graphics are complex geometric shapes that must align exactly.
  7. Wall covering for cafe above counter

I am bidding on a job to cover an area 6'x20' on a back wall of a café. There is a counter below the graphic so the print would be exposed to food/liquid. Probably would need to be cleaned frequently. What material would be good for this area? Thanks.
  8. Our new sign

    Great job!
  9. this is how we sell signs

Gino, I'm not sure I am interpreting that as having already received a deposit. It seems like the contract comes after the art? I understand details have to be worked out before a final plan is decided, but at the very least I would get a signature commitment on an Estimate prior to doing sign...
  10. this is how we sell signs

Very nice! I am assuming this is AFTER you get a deposit?
  11. Installing DualView vinyl

Thanks for your reply. However I will be using Signs365 to make the prints as I do not have a printer. Also, since these pieces will be large I was thinking of using a more user friendly product that can be lifted up or repositioned.
  12. Installing DualView vinyl

I have been asked to quote on installing printed vinyl on the back side of clear glass for a café in a high class office building. One wall above a counter is 19 feet long and 6 feet high. There will be 14 glass panels. We will apply he vinyl ad then the contractor will install the panels...
  13. Permits for sign installation

We had a situation a few years ago where we were putting a new sign face on an existing monument. We did get a sign permit and did the job. The original structure was also permitted. About 6 months later one of the inspectors realized that the sign was offsite and therefore illegal. Even though...
  14. Hi from Milano, Italy

Hello from Florida - wish I was there... love Italy!
  15. gold back it lettering…. looking for a vendor that builds it.

Those look like fabricated polished gold titanium. Either Steel Art or US Signs makes them. Also Gemini has a similar product.
  16. Etched vinyl issues....

I am thinking it is on the outside surface so that if you sprayed it with Windex it would clean it off. Did you send these photos to your contractor and ask them why it looks like this?
  17. Etched vinyl issues....

I agree with Tim. It looks like dried application fluid that wasn't cleaned off prior to leaving the site. Did they clean the film after they installed it?
  18. sign engineering software

When I click on the Excel file it changes it to a .php extension which I can't open. I can open an excel file normally. Also, when I clicked on the website it said it is under construction. Would really like to see this spreadsheet.
  19. simple design for 12' wide 6' high sign

    Go Draplin!
  20. sign engineering software

Thanks for the replies. I am not looking for a substitute for an engineer's stamp, I am looking for software that you can plug in the size of the sign and some other basic details and then get calculations on the size footer your need. I've looked at a couple of software programs online and was...
