  1. my JV33 clone (chinese) gettting started

Whoah, chapter one of a whole new book for you now AB! First 'd learn how to switch the carts on and off manually - remember there's valves in the 33's. Here's how to do it Mimaki style... Turn on machine while pressing function and remote. Hit function key. Scroll to #Test. Scroll...
  2. heater temps for cjv30

That's about right. I think mine is 35 40 45. Here's a tip if you want to turn off the heaters at will. Switch to cut mode and press the heater/cutter button twice (then enter). I found that because I drive this machine through Signlab, the heaters would fire up and stay on even in cut mode...
  3. CJV30 100, single pass

Reducing the amount of passes doesn't mean reducing the amount of ink. In fact the opposite can happen as it tries to dump everything in fewer passes. What you need to learn is how to adjust the ink limits. I think they call it Ink Density in RLP. Have a look here...
  4. DX5 printhead problem???

Whoa! That looks scary. Did you try printing something with it yet?
  5. CJV30-160 Stickers

Get Signlab! Seriously, when I got my CJV I was shown how to do all that stuff in Corel, Fine Cut, Rasterlink etc. just like you said. What a hassle. I showed him how to do it all in Signlab and it's about 10 times easier. Never used Fine cut since (or Rasterlink or Corel for that matter)...
  6. Mimaki cjv30-160 printing prob

I get similar problem with my CJV when printing some blues and purples. See attached. Haven't found a solution yet - not that I've tried much. It's only with certain colour shades. Changed passes, speed, temps, converted from vector to bitmap...still does it. If you're under warranty, try...
  7. Mimaki CJV30-130 not cutting where it's supposed to...

Devo, I get this whenever I forget to set an offset (say 5mm in the scan direction). The laser can't read the first mark coz it's too close. This can be fixed by reloading the sheet or moving the first roller so there's a bit of a gap between the cutter head and the first mark. And of course...
  8. Gotta change inks - ES3 any good?

Haven't switched over yet. I'm going to hang off for as long as possible until I have to change. (When there's no more Eco-HS1 available anywhere). Then I'll make my own printmodes for the ES3 inks for use in Signlab. Hardly ever use Rasterlink, and although they have some good profiles for...
  9. Mimaki CJV30-100 or Roland Versacamm SPI540?

I have a CJV which I use Signlab for all the printing and cutting. Feel free to PM me with any questions once you get it. FWIW, I would have thought the CJV30-130 would be a better option than the 100. Most stock rolls are 1370 wide, and I would be lost if I couldn't print wider than 1220mm to...
  10. Error 11 Parameter Error

Yes, in Signlab you can easily create or assign a contour cut line and/or a half cut line. To be honest, I don't use the half cut option. Probably should more often... It's easy to set up and it works okay.
  11. Error 11 Parameter Error

Hi, I get that error on my CJV30 whenever I cut or contour cut from Signlab 8. I just ignore it as it doesn't affect the cuts in any way. Figure it's Signlab sending a parameter or command that the cutter doesn't recognize properly. The cutter beeps, flashes the error up, then just goes and...
  12. Gotta change inks - ES3 any good?

Just reading back through this post and I realise this sounds a bit harsh. I should have said I've never needed any support from Mimaki. This machine has been trouble free - and so have the inks. Most maintenance and printing issues have been able to be resolved by myself. But the odd time...
  13. Gotta change inks - ES3 any good?

I do laminate pretty much everything - including banners where I roll on liquid lam. But I do remember the ES3 test samples I had did scratch and rub off easily. Thanks Bly, I'll call Anitech here and check out Bordeux. How bad is the smell?
  14. Gotta change inks - ES3 any good?

I'll give Celmac a call and ask them what they recommend. According to their site, the JVV is MILD solvent - listed alongside the Ecosol's. Do you use a chip resetter with your JV33?
  15. Gotta change inks - ES3 any good?

Couple of Q's about the JVV carts: How does the chip reading work? IOW, how does the machine react to these carts? How strong is the smell? I can put up with some smell, but can't stand too much stink and fumes...
  16. Gotta change inks - ES3 any good?

Thanks for they reply. For some reason, Mimaki aren't allowed to sell the SS21 here. (some ingredient deemed unsafe here but nowhere else...) I would rather not have a strong smell - I'm nearby in the same environment (although I do have an extraction fan). For that reason alone I'm thinking...
  17. Gotta change inks - ES3 any good?

I have a CJV30, and here in Australia they were available with "Eco-HS1" inks, which is sort of in between ES3 and SS21 I believe. Anyway, due to them not selling much of this ink, Mimaki have decided to discontinue it. So I'm now forced to switch inks. Most users it seems are opting for the...
  18. Mimaki CJV30-130 cutting off by 2mm

Something to be wary of with the CJV when you are doing a print & cut:- if you alter the cut (tool) pressure on the fly it will shift the cutter head slightly, resulting in the subsequent cut line being 1-2mm out. It's an annoying bug. Always adjust the tool pressure before scanning reg...
  19. Cyan and Black on the left channel stop firing during production.

It'd be something above the head, not below it. Sounds like partially clogged dampers or something restricting the flow - causing ink starvation on a long run. Being that 1 normal cleaning brought them back, the cap seal seems good. As Rooster said: check the dampers.
  20. CJV30 Cyan suddenly completely missing

Okay I ordered a new cap and have just fitted it. That was the problem! Now I see a lot of ink going through the drain tubes whereas before there was hardly any. I guess that when both cyans quit at the same time, there must have been a small air lock or something just enough to impede...
