  1. newby question

The sensors detect the position of the rollers, not the material. There is a way of getting the sensors to read an expanded area which includes the roller area - which will get you closer to the edge. I remember reading about it in the manual. I wouldn't do it personally unless I really had...
  2. cutter BASKET for Graphtec

Here's mine...it's retractable. The arms slide into slightly larger tube steel. These are glued to L brackets which are screwed into the cutter base. Of course one advantage of a signmaker building his own basket is you can print your own banner!
  3. Fc7000 160

The ARMS works well for me, I regularly contour cut lengths of 4' on the FC7000-75 through Signlab Print & Cut. Through trial and error I've found that you need to ensure a few things are done to prevent the dreaded mark scan error: Allow enough margin around the graphics for the reg marks...
  4. Graphtec die cutting

Your pounce tool may use the groove, but the blades need to cut on the teflon strip.
  5. new machine is driving me crazy

It's funny, the reason I bought this machine was because I knew the old models were great cutters, so I thought the new models must have everything finely tuned by now. Like our Sign software keeps evolving - getting bugs and quirks ironed out along the way - I expected this machine to...
  6. Graphtec die cutting

Sounds like it would be a good feature. First time I've heard of this machine being able to die cut. Mimaki's can, so the Graphtec should be able to? Yeh it would be good to know what the other 7 line types do. I know no. 7 is a fast pounce option and the blade will keep hitting the cutting...
  7. new machine is driving me crazy

:cool1: Thanks for letting us know Allan. I've downloaded and uploaded, but I must admit I'm used to life without a rear sensor now ( covered permanently with vinyl). Still, I may as well try it to see how it goes. It's good to know that Graphtec take this stuff on board and can tweak the...
  8. Cross Cutting with FC-7000

That's a good suggestion to use the plotter controller software. Indeed it is easier in that it has a dedicated cross cut button. The carriage seems to move faster too. You still have to remember to advance the media first, but there's a lot less button pressing than with the cutter's control...
  9. Cross Cutting with FC-7000

Only you and me so far Doug. I thought I'd post this here first to see what other users thought..... I know it sounds like I'm having a whinge, but there are some areas where this cutter lets itself down. I'd like to address these things with Graphtec. Certainly some things are fixable - or...
  10. Cross Cutting with FC-7000

Is there an easy way to get this machine to do a cross cut? Whenever I cross cut the vinyl (which is every time I cut something), I have to: 1) manually advance the material about an inch (or else it will cut right on the edge of the graphic), then wait a couple more secs for the machine to...
  11. Color choice error shuts down program

Mark, Dee doesn't have Flexi apparently. With regard to having 2 rips installed - I have Colorchoice and Signlab print & cut installed. I have noticed if I print something with Signlab, then try to print with Colorchoice I get an error. I need to close Signlab's print manager then it works...
  12. new machine is driving me crazy

Hehe, that gave me a chuckle Rob! That's not what I meant at all. Let me see if I can clarify.... I originally hijacked this thread voicing my concerns about the "load Media!" message and how it activates too easily with no way to cancel it. My suggestion was to have the machine allow us...
  13. new machine is driving me crazy

Neal, that's great news that they can fix the problem. As it is, I couldn't imagine that the cutter could be used as a desktop model without continually getting the "Load Media" message. I'm glad there is this forum to enable users to discuss these things, and to know that they can be relayed...
  14. Graphtec 7000-75 ???

Cool. Now we just need to find out what those other 7 line types are for???
  15. Graphtec 7000-75 ???

I had that problem when I upgraded the firmware. It altered the line type to some crazy pounce option. To fix it go to Function 1, then Pref. Line Type, press the up arrow till it reads =OFF. Interesting there are no less than eight different line types!
  16. new machine is driving me crazy

Update: covering the sensor with frosted renders the sensor inactive. In fact I even tried clear scotch tape and that too blocks out the sensor! So it's just like covering it with magnetic or similar. Neal, I have mounted the rollers on the stand. That was the reason I got the stand, because...
  17. new machine is driving me crazy

That's a great idea Howard. I covered it with some frosted etch vinyl and have cut several things so far without any problems. Will continue to evaluate it for now but so far so good!
  18. new machine is driving me crazy

Thankyou Howard and Neal. I was hoping you'd come on board and provide an avenue to discuss these things. I'll contact Neal shortly. I have difficulty contacting tech support here in Australia, although they did come back to me recently and adjusted a sensor in the cutter head. Is there...
  19. new machine is driving me crazy

Thanks for your reply Howard. I agree with your point that the speed of the machine is not as important if the weeding is faster. The Graphtec is certainly good in this respect. I use the Tangential 2 setting and I find the weeding to be far quicker and easier than with my previous machine...
  20. new machine is driving me crazy

Don't assume these suggestions have been overlooked: I have pre-feed on - it's a pain in itself but thats another story. I have slowed down the cutter - to around half of what it's advertised to be able to cut at. I have rigged up a roller at the rear to help hold down the vinyl - that...
