ThreePutt thanks for the pics. I have the same rig here. The trickiest bit for me is taping the vinyl to the roll at just the right time. I'v always wondered how you're supposed to fix the vinyl to the take up reel. How do you do it? any tricks?

Okay problem is fixed. Seems it was a coincidence that it started doing this after upgrading the firmware. The problem was the sensor within the cutter head needed adjusting.

Well I went back to the dealer today (to see a demo of the HP900s) and had chance to ask if he could do any better on the price for the FC7000-75. They dropped it to around $6300 (as a "show special") so I ordered it on the spot. Thanks for the input here. I reckon I made the right decision...

What I really want is the 7000 for the price of the 5100! In reality, the FC7000 for $7,000 is still a good buy. My old Summa cost $6,000 about 8 or 9 years ago, and a few years before that I bought my first cutter - a Roland PNC1000 for.....$6,000!

It sounds like it could be a software thing. Apparently Signlab also had the same problem, which has subsequently been resolved in the latest build.
