  1. Jpeg change size

Haven’t used that program but I have a small printer that uses DPI for its sizing. It doesn’t actually edit the photos/pixels as it’s just a print software so when I change the dpi I’m literally changing the dots per inch so naturally that’s changing the size of the artwork. Could that be the case?
  2. Boat Registration Numbers Complaint...for real???

Replace as-is or charge more for the new number. Easy peasy! I can’t tell you how many times customers have made mistakes and asked for free reprints, some are a lot more brazen than others. Had one come back about 10 hoodies recently because 8 of the names were spelled wrong, which I copy and...
  3. Merging names with photos in a design to then export

Honestly this is a 2 minute process in indesign I’ve got pretty much nailed now. The hardest part is on the Mac you need to be pretty careful about the path for your ‘@image placeholder. And it doesn’t seem to work in subfolders. We mostly use it for Christmas cards. Best tip would be to...
  4. Floor digital vinyl no lamination

We prefer to buy in textured floor vinyls. Vinyl + lam is usually around £10 sq/m for decent stuff and we get in the textured floor graphic material that’s R12 anti-slip rated for less than half that. Got one we done on the Colorado just after install in the print room at the main door and it...
  5. Anyone seeing loads of material shortages yet?

are you laminating the floor graphics coming off the Colorado or do you get in the anti slip vinyl? We’ve found the anti slip stands up to pretty tough wear and tear without lamination but have had to just laminate some regular vinyl with the anti slip laminate due to material shortages. The...
  6. Anyone seeing loads of material shortages yet?

Surprisingly our main supplier hasn’t put any prices up for us yet, that may be because we’re spending a small fortune every day on media hahaha
  7. Anyone seeing loads of material shortages yet?

So I’m from the UK and luckily we have a good few different suppliers set up but it’s getting harder and harder to get the media in to do all our jobs. Don’t get me started on floor graphic material, though just now we need a pretty endless supply. Getting all our customers back up and ready to...
  8. I always wondered why...

Not too long ago I was going round a fairly large roundabout with three lanes and a car was going round the wrong way. No idea how he got there. The way the roundabout leads you into it, you’d have to have pretty much made a right turn instead of naturally following the right way with minimal...
  9. HP Latex 335 with Onyx printing width with summa barcode

Have you edited the cutter in the general settings from the defaults? Got me an extra inch or two. Can’t complain at at extra couple inches!
  10. Export as EPS or PDF ? whats the difference ?

We’re PDF only. No problems with PDF and I’ve found more people have adobe reader than can open eps files. With regards to file size, have you ever tried just a file - save as and saving as the same file type? For some odd reason every now and then we get huge indesign files and a save as...
  11. Finecut 9 Software CD request

Weird that they’d not make the fine cut plugin free because surely you’d have to have a rasterlink licence to use the files you’ve made?
  12. what to buy

No, no, no, no NO! It’s the best solution by far because he sells them, silly. No other reason. Doesn’t matter if it’s not the solution that’s right for this particular customer, it gets a blanket “best solution by far” if they can subtly sell them without a merchant membership
  13. What's worse than covid-19? Customers not paying.

In the current situation, you probably shouldn’t be taking on any jobs without knowing they can pay. At least take a hefty deposit.
  14. Summa sticker cut alignment issue

Almost looks like it’s cut slightly into the one on the bottom. What are your settings with opos panelling? Could it be that the machine stopped in the middle, read the panelling marks and then proceeded to cut slightly off? Without a bit more info it’s hard to say, even cut speed and force...
  15. Need Help Sticker print and cut

I’m hoping this is sarcasm, that or it really is signs 101.
  16. Need Help Sticker print and cut

I ran/run a solvent for 6+ years and have never found that you can’t cut through media that’s been printed - what tech are you using? Honestly with customer installations anything could be a problem here. definitely looks like the window wasn’t cleaned prior to installation so that’s a big...
  17. Does Speed Kill?

Back at the OP’s comment, speed may kill. Just today we got in around about 10k sqft in COVID-19 posters, vinyls, floor graphics etc and I can absolutely assure you without the Colorado I’d be heading to an early grave lol
  18. HP Latex 560 Media Width?

Once you’ve hit print, do you get the layout preview? On our Colorado sometimes I need to check the part that confirms media width before printing or it’ll try print the closest width I’ve used before. I.e. if I send a 1000mm wide print and I’ve got 1370 selected in media options, but I’ve...
  19. Does Speed Kill?

You don’t splash 175k on a printer if you don’t plan on having the jobs to feed it. Assuming the upgrade was made for the same reason everyone else upgrades - to save time, operation costs, add new avenues increase output etc. If I had a lemon printer that I didn’t trust, I definitely wouldn’t...
  20. CJV150-160 Contour cut problem

For the purpose of testing, have you tried printing, cutting the sheet off, then putting it back in (straight), reading the marks and trying a cut. with our CJV30 I always found it liked that method better than just a print and cut, no idea why. second the pinch rollers maybe being worn...
