If you want to use onyx, Try their subscription service. Unless you can find someone selling a newer licence, but i wouldn't go under x18 as support ends there.

  3. Using a Trade printer... Uploading files

Great answers so far. right now it seems like, the easier it is, the better it is.
  4. Using a Trade printer... Uploading files

This has been at the back of my mind for a while. And since it was brought up recently, i'd like to open it as a discussion & A Poll. When using a Trade printer, We understand you want the simplest, easiest solution to place orders. The question: How would you prefer to upload your files? A)...
  5. Need Suggestions on upgrading our UV Flatbed Printer and Flatbed Cutter

I personally would take peoples experiences on a forum with a grain of salt. Why? Because people come to forums to complain... One bad experience doesn't mean they're all bad. The amount of times i've seen people sook and whine about support, or something not working, threatening companies...
  6. Need reliable trade printer (not 4over)

Ok that's shocking. Signs365 is interesting - i.e their website is just a landing page with a login. They must be extremely huge to be able to do that / a lot of word of mouth it seems. Their interface looks nice though, seems to be preset sizing though to use the artboard like that. I can...
  7. Need Suggestions on upgrading our UV Flatbed Printer and Flatbed Cutter

UV inks smell. But it goes away. i can't stress this enough. See the printer in action, Get samples made on the spot. Show the companies/manufactures what you want to achieve. There's heaps of companies you could look at, Pricing can fluctuate a lot depending on company, features & speed...
  8. Explaining longer lead times to repeat clients

Why should someone pay for something that's just sitting there and costing you nothing? Same as firesprint... We charge for equipment time. & labor time. Outgassing has none of those, so why should there be a fee?
  9. Need reliable trade printer (not 4over)

What's the interface like? Their website already annoys me as 30% of the page is taken up by the sticky header & notice.
  10. Branding companies....just dont!

I just did our house insurance with a new company. They are very specific when it has to do with water damage. Flood damage vs Storm damage. And it'll only cover the house not contents unless you have contents cover. Contents covers stuff like carpet, but not floorboards. It's all in the fime...
  11. Branding companies....just dont!

That's not how it works. You make a claim, they pay you. They then chase up the company that now owes them. - That is literally the whole point in Trade Credit Insurance. The insurance company will do whatever it takes to get their money. If you have issues with your insurance company (any)...
  12. Question How do you make a transmissive profile for a clear film when it has permanent adhesive and an opaque backer?

Most of the inaccuracy will come from the lighting conditions from the environment. Light temp, brightness etc. Lightbox or glass window. they're all different. When doing the measure, you're asked to cut the top left window out. If you only cut the top left window on the adhesive and not...
  13. Branding companies....just dont!

There's a thing called "Trade Credit Insurance" Where you're insured for customers not paying their accounts.
  14. Question How do you make a transmissive profile for a clear film when it has permanent adhesive and an opaque backer?

That would be fine for most applications. You’ll never get accuracy in transmissive profiles / clear stocks for general applications as mentioned earlier. We’ve never really found a customer demanding accurate colour matching for clear graphics. Impossible.
  15. Declining jobs based on moral/ethical grounds

Work is work. If you don't take it, someone else will. Religious or personal beliefs are just that... beliefs... How about all the greenpeace people getting signs printed on corrugated plastic? Ethically, cardboard and hand paint will suffice. Printing is not very eco friendly if you don't do...
  16. Window Clings

We print these quite often. Clear or white clings.
  17. Summa F1612 Wallpaper

I cannot speak for flexa, but have heard good stuff about the Miura. We run a fotoba XLD170HS. It cuts very accurate. If you simply put outlines around the print (done in the RIP) or even crop or registration marks. You line up the slitters with the lines + your bleed (2-3mm is all you...
  18. Summa F1612 Wallpaper

Depends how many you do a week/day. If it's volume, the Fotoba will win hands down.
  19. Question How do you make a transmissive profile for a clear film when it has permanent adhesive and an opaque backer?

You may think it's fine, but i can guarantee you, if it's done in transmissive mode, it's a huge difference. I know this as i've tried before.
