We used to print tear proof posters on our old aqueous and those were waterproof (to a certain extent). Not familiar with your machine but there might be different media’s you could try. Probably cheaper than getting a laminator then also stocking the laminate and going through an extra process
pretty much our situation aside from we don’t have a flat bed. We have a guillotine for the ACM and aluminium so that’s not a massive deal for us yet. Cutting roll stock is probably the most manual task we have so I think we’ll definitely get a fotoba before looking at a flat bed cutter.
Our...
Lol the printer is fine. The Colorado is running a full roll of posters In around an hour. Chopping them down in a manual cutter isn’t so fun though!
really appreciate the suggestions and will keep you all updated. Probably won’t be getting it for a couple months or so anyway. Get rid of the...
Sounds like you may be better served with a latex. Especially if you’re already used to profiling your own media on HP’s already. Latex are renowned for their scratch resistance compared to solvent. Gamut should be fit for purpose too.
We had a demo on a Colorado 1650 last month and the canvas...
That’s all great info. I was just worried a fotoba etc would be rendered useless if we got the flat bed. Speed wasn’t massively an issue, more just automating tasks. But it’s good to know we’d still need them both if/when we eventually get them!
We’d likely get a stacker too as we frequently...
It’s mostly roll stock recently but getting more and more jobs on substrates too. Which we’ve been keeping up with fairly easily. It’s more of a fail to plan = plan to fail type scenario. Flatbed would be future proof now but currently we only really need the XY.
Recently we’ve been getting a lot busier with large poster/vinyl jobs and currently everything gets cut manually. Which Hasn’t been a problem until recently as we mostly done signage/vehicle livery's/small scale runs.
so we’re looking into getting an XY cutter to automate it. We’ve had a few...
Can’t go wrong with a summa. Tracking is excellent and once they go in the field all you really need is new blades and the odd cutting strip if you go really heavy on it.
As far as cutters go, I’m pretty sure most of them are pretty sturdy so any name brand should serve you well. Not much that...
Not used flexi but we recently went from rasterlink to onyx and it’s night and day, onyx is miles ahead in ease of use, functionality and just generally doing the things it’s supposed to do quickly and easily.
Hot folders are quick and easy to set up and it’s got a whole load more options and...
I am hoping they roll out a bunch of the firmware updates onto the 1640. Would be great to have control of media feed/trailing edge right from the printer.
calibrating at all speeds would likely help too.
then double sided probably won’t be a big seller for us but they did promise us they’d...
On the 1640 it’s been one and done so far. Everything has been very consistent (4 months in anyway).
we had slight issues with feed correction, nothing that wasn’t fixed by onyx, but the 1640 only calibrates at the slowest speed, they changed that on the 1650 to calibrate at all the speeds I...
Agree with bobby H, I’m closer to a 6 day work week than I am a 4 lol.
Naturally this will likely just be on a case by case basis and down to individual business needs.
though we are pretty flexible and have a few part timers spread over the week so we always have extra cover
We have a few customers like this. Though one of them basically told us that even though we have given them a price list for everything standard, they still need to ask for a quote for audit purposes. They only come to us too so it’s not like they’re comparing quotes or anything, just...
You can apply solvent prints without out gassing, you do have to wait before laminating however, not that you’ll need to with a 3 week life.
If you’re not laminating these prints, any printer on the market should be fine. Though if it’s a lot of seasonal work or the printer gets unused for long...
Would it be possible to buy these in pre cut? If it’s the same size all the time it may be worth just getting in blanks?
that being said, even if a CNC takes a while to cut these out, it’s still pretty much automated. Load a sheet and off you go, leaving you time to do other jobs.
