Media will always skew a bit. On long runs I usually pull out about half of the length I'm printing or cutting, square it up, lower the pinch rollers and roll it back to beginning before starting to eliminate any problem.

If memory serves me right, Harrison Ford enhanced a photo and went around a corner into a different room and zoomed in on a snake scale/clue :cool1:
Wrap vinyl with Air-egress liners like Oracals Rapid Air and 3M's Comply don't cut text well and aren't designed for that. It's possible but troublesome especially when application tape doesn't stick well and curls off the liner.
The print head should travel the full length to allow consistent dry-time so you get consistent prints at any size.
Cutting that process out will save time but can affect the print quality if over saturated.
