Excellent customer service from our SL retailer, Wensco Sign Supply in Grand Rapids, MI. Ordered last Wednesday, and even with the long holiday weekend, "big brown" just dropped it off today. JB

Even as a current SL user, it's the perfect opportunity to add another stand-alone seat. JB

Perhaps, but on the other hand it might be a relatively inexpensive way to gain long-term market share. Think about it...the development costs have already been paid, and all they're doing is deeply discounting. I'm sure they're not losing money by any means. If people don't like it...

For the "average" cut vinyl sign maker (and perhaps basic print sign maker), you have to admit that the SL special is a jaw-dropping show stopper this time around. JB
  5. Gerber GS-15Plus Bail Arm Sticky

On the post above, I forgot to mention that the baby powder gets "absorbed" into the sticky rubber and does not remain dusty. You shouldn't have any issues with baby powder residue on prints or vinyl so long as you remove the excess. JB
  6. Gerber GS-15Plus Bail Arm Sticky

Yes, I helped a friend replace one earlier this summer. He called the plotter doctor here in the US and they told him he could either buy a new one or fix it like I mentioned above. He chose to fix it himself. It really works well. You might want to try carefully putting baby powder...
  7. Gerber GS-15Plus Bail Arm Sticky

Per good advice from the plotter doctor: Remove the bail roller from the plotter and carefully cut off the sticky rubber and clean the steel rod thoroughly. Go to the auto parts store and find some rubber fuel line hose with the inside diameter the same size as the bail roller rod. The...
  8. Training Problem with caldera version 10

For future reference, make sure you use written purchase orders. Be sure to identify all the verbal trade-show promises your sales rep made by using "per Mr. So and So". Even better, have them put it in writing while you're standing right there. Usually, the company will then issue an...
  9. Cocut huge price cut

We do stone/monument engraving and the reason I frequent this forum is for the discussions in the layout /design, typography and (Gerber) plotter cutting threads. 99.9% of what we run through our plotter is sandblast material. I also follow the business management threads as well. As far...

There are some applications where AutoCAD is used to design products such as templates /patterns, special painting or etching masks, and so on. AutoCAD is more precise, and it has the ability to create complex 2-D geometry better (besides it is an industry standard for many companies). However...
  11. Flexi Sign Pro VS Signlab 9.1

I knew they were into a lot of stuff...thanks for the research. We've been using SignLab for seven years now. I started with a used copy of 5, then upgraded to 7.1 and then to 8. With the special deal now going on, I'm looking at a copy of 9.1 to get my daughter and son-in-law's business up...
  12. Happy Thanksgiving!

My daughter arrived yesterday with my 5-1/2 month-old grandson still in his car seat/baby carrier. As I got him out of his seat, I noticed he had his bib on, all ready for Thanksgiving festivities...or so I thought. So...I flipped up the bib to see what was written on his shirt...

CadLink is Canadian, and I don't believe they're associated with CoCut. JB

  15. Corel draw X7 Vs. X5 learning curve?

Yes, I'm running them all on the same computer (Dell Precision 1600 Workstation). Most times, I'll have Illy, AutoCAD, SignLab and Omega all open at the same time with no major issues. I spent a little more money on the computer than I have in the past, but it's been worth it. I'm running...

I believe the demo download includes all versions of SignLab. Click on the Windows start button for the program menu (SignLab folder). Then choose which version you want to open. JB

It does take a bit to download, be patient. You will need to be connected to the internet each time you launch it since it doesn't use a dongle. I believe it has cut/print capabilities, but it randomly scales each output differently so you can't use it for anything productive...just testing...

In a way, I think you might be right, but it can also work toward our benefit. I'm a current SL8 user, but I also use Omega 5, Illy CS5, PSCS6 and Corel X6. (Our work is diverse enough to where we use all of them because each has its own set of strengths and weaknesses). We're looking at...
