  1. Desire by Charles Borges

    Way cool, Dan...way cool. JB
  2. Desire by Charles Borges

I got mine from LHF, where they had the whole kit & caboodle (all twelve variants) for only $89. It's now $99 for everything. My Fonts makes it look as if you have to buy them separately if you are not able to use Desire Pro....with LHF it's all one price, regardless. I'm kinda...
  3. Font Management

Suitcase Fusion here....I don't use it everyday, but it sure is helpful for categorizing, and when looking for a particular font. The simplicity of backing up or migrating all of your fonts from one computer to another (using the font vault) is priceless. JB
  4. Averege $/hr for wrapper in the US

Those rappers out in LA make even bigger bucks....just sayin'. JB
  5. Layout software

I'd say you're in for a steep learning curve with layout and design and learning new software. Each of those is a pursuit unto itself. There are charts for determining lettering size at specific distances. JB
  6. Does anyone have a CNC Plasma cutter?

Abrasive waterjet would be the way to go. It leaves no heat affected zone. JB
  7. Hosting emails

What kind of issues in particular? We go through Yahoo with our domain and still get the occasional spam, but otherwise they're usually reliable. Whatever you do, make sure you keep your domain name in your email address, as apposed to (whatever)@gmail.com. I can't believe how many...
  8. Branding concept for Distillery

I'd like to see 50% (the left side) of the skyline removed, and then simplify and enlarge the rest. It appears to be way too busy, and the left side doesn't really add that much. Perhaps incorporate the tall stack on the right side for balance, if need be. With the bottle sitting on the...
  9. Fundraisers, non profit and other FEEL GOOD functions

From Wikipedia: I always steer away from "charities" that profit from a cause. JB
  10. 3M free hardhat offer

I'm still waiting on mine.... JB
  11. Is everybody this careless?

Wow...I can't even begin to count the number of small business I've patronized where they've conducted "back office" activities at the receptionist desk. I've seen confidential scribblings, checks laying within sight (and reach), and other sensitive information that should be kept behind closed...
  12. Tape measures...how many is too many?

My son works for a rather chubby boss who runs a small lumber sawing business. A few months ago, my son was sweeping the sawdust from the shop and found a total of twelve tape measures scattered about the floor...beneath the dust. "Ben Dover" definitely doesn't work there. JB
  13. I can'g mess this up! Help

My dad owned a body shop, and back in the 60s and 70s wood grain vinyl was a stock (3M?) item...mainly for station wagons. It was a lot thicker than sign vinyl, and it actually had a slight wood texture. I vaguely remember him using soap suds to apply the vinyl. Those were the days...
  14. just unbelievable.....

Far worse. They ran the vinyl through the cutter once. Then they loaded it back into the cutter and cut the new design. I guess all the extra cuts are free. Sheesh....
  15. I need info on Content Management Software

    :banghead: twasn't lookin....dang. JB
  16. I need info on Content Management Software

Please be a little more specific. There are many different areas of "content": web, print/publishing, production...to name a few. Do you, perhaps, mean digital assets management (DAM)? If so, here's one http://www.extensis.com/digital-asset-management/ JB
  17. Bucket Truck sign holder

Yep, a local tree trimmer in our neck of the woods thought he'd try to use the bucket to support a limb he was cutting...long story short...he managed to completely sever the bucket from the boom and fell 60 feet in the process. He survived the fall by landing in some of the brush he'd been...
  18. Do you have a hobby? R/C?

Ha ha...a friend used to say that his RC plane was his way of "wallpapering" the sky with dollar bills. I believe it. JB
  19. Facebook posts...What to link????

This facebook account is just about the best when it comes to both fun and education. Thanks for the inspiration Grandpa Dan! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Imagination-Corporation/135845729810256
  20. Black friday and cyber deals? Where, I saw none

That's about what it's come down to anymore. Why get rid of the good stuff when people will pay full price later on? A couple of years ago, before the creative cloud took over, Adobe used to run some compelling specials on upgrades. Our family came to the conclusion last night that we'd...
