Labor costs always begin with your annual operating budget. Divide your anticipated yearly costs by your total working hours for the year, and that's your hourly rate. This is the bare minimum. Don't forget to include include taxes, insurance and a ton of other "non-visible" overhead expenses...
Illustrator, SignLab and Omega all handle .DXF files extremely well, hence the reason we use AutoCAD. We do most of our design work in Illy, AutoCAD and Omega and then bring them in to SignLab as .DXF files to cut. Very rarely do we have any line / vector issues.
I've noticed Illustrator...
I use AutoCAD for those kinds of projects. It can be done with other software, but a basic CAD program will give you precision you're looking for. With a good engineer's scale and dial or digital calipers, you can reverse engineer just about anything. You can also trace scans or photos...
No squabbles here, I bought it anyway because it is a money maker...even if I would have had to pay the full price. I think the burr under my saddle comes from the perceived price creep prior to the black Friday carnage.

I was a tool and die maker in a former life, and I really like AutoCAD. I would be classified as an "innovator / inventor / tinkerer", and I have all sorts of jigs and specialty tools laser cut (from steel) for my stone engraving business. I email a .dwg file, and pick up my parts a few days...
I've been pricing a new copy of AutoCAD LT 2014 for the past six months, and earlier this fall it was going for $839.00. When I went to pull the trigger last Tuesday, it had gone up to $849.00. And as of today, it's at $869.00.
I won't name any names, but it's the huge online store named...
It would have been his 78th birthday today. It's been a rough day, so I spent the afternoon etching granite in his memory. This is going to a special memorial garden at the hospital.
It might be difficult to see, but the text on the bench top is curved to follow the contour.

For Sale:
Gerber Omega 4 Layout Station with USB dongle and blank registration card. Sealed software was first opened on 11-19-13 to make sure that disc loaded properly, and that the dongle works. Everything is perfect and this is essentially new software, albeit version 4.

I did the same thing seven years ago. The first three or four years were rough sledding.
If you don't have one already, make sure you get busy on a business plan. If anything, it will give you some guidance as you navigate uncharted waters. You might need to hire an experienced...
Don't forget to consider the cost (and frustration) of the learning curve with new software. That might be more than you anticipate.
You might want to try to find a copy of Omega LS (layout station) and export the files to a lower cost cutting/printing program.
I found a new copy of...
I was just getting used to being called a father-in-law, and I'm already in cue for the second stage...this is so freakin' awesome!
We were pretty sure our newlywed daughter and her husband wouldn't waste any time when it came to making us grandparents...and they sure didn't disappoint...
If it were only that easy...
But at any rate, it appears they're quite intent on digging deep into the minds of users to see what we really think of the CC vs CS. It should be interesting to see what comes of it.
