  3. Synchronizing Quickbooks between 2 computers

I'd prefer to do it "offline" if possible. How about if I'm connected to the same router, will I be able to do it that way somehow? Thanks, JB
  4. Synchronizing Quickbooks between 2 computers

I'm looking at getting a laptop so I can have our accountant help us get set up with QuickBooks. Does anybody synchronize files between two computers, and if so what do you use? It's not something I'll be doing every day so I want to keep it simple. Will "briefcase" to do the job? JB
  5. Who here started in their garage?

Perhaps the coziest place on this thread so far...with great perks, literally. Every entrepreneur's dilemma, with no hard/fast answers... Treat your customer to a good cup of coffee, build good will and then and write it off...great idea. JB

Jeffrey Bezos started Amazon.com in his garage. Read on and be inspired: http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052970203914304576627102996831200 JB
  7. Anyone seen one of these before?

A steel rule die and an arbor press would work. The die in the photo is not a steel rule die, though. Jim
  8. Who here started in their garage?

I've been garage based for eight years and love it. And while there are certain limitations, my two favorite "liberties" are mentioned above. Thanks guys...the extra encouragement is just what I needed to start the new year. JB

  13. Laser / Projecting "OPEN" sign

Very cool idea. You could build an array of a gazillion of those laser lights you use for teasing the cat. I'm sure OSHA would make him put a warning sticker on the window about the hazards of laser radiation and potential eye injury. Perhaps you could use a scan head laser and make it...
  14. End of year reviews

After reading your post, I mis-understood this to be a group meeting instead of individual evaluations...sorry. I've been part of year-end group meetings, and they were always positive. It helped "rally the troops" around the goals for the new year. I also think that they should stay that...
  15. End of year reviews

Some people don't see reviews as beneficial, but they are. You can reinforce this by demonstrating the improvements that have made throughout the previous year...which means you'd better be paying close attention to your business, and the growth of your employees. I think it's an excellent...
  16. You thought you got ripped off?

I wrote a unique description for an ebay item I was selling...and it showed up on somebody elses listing a few days later....and that's nothing compared to what they're ripping you for. Man, I can really identify JB
  17. Suggestions for large scraps of lightweight banner vinyl?

They're not cutting the banner, they're only applying their high-priced vinyl on it. Make sure you price it high since they're used to it. JB
  18. Suggestions for large scraps of lightweight banner vinyl?

Bag 'em up, and slap on a Cricut logo, and then sell them on ebay. JB
  19. sign display idea.....

Yikes...this is a lesson unto itself. Just do what you do when a customer walks in the door and doesn't have a clue what they want. Start by asking yourself the obvious questions, and then narrow down the ideas until you finally reach a viable solution. JB
