One thing I always do is clean the clear plastic guide strips with a rag and alcohol. The ink dust tends to build up over time which is sticky and it prevents them from sliding easily. This would also cause the slapping.

Did you try the ICC files Mutoh has on their FTP site? They are for Flexi but they are general ICC files. Might be worht a shot.

DX5 is 31 pin and DX7 is 29.

Yes the DX5 cables have a different amount of pins. I'm surprised a fuse hasn't blown!

It's a possibility but more rare than a fuse or ink flow issue. Can you take a picture of the cables where they plug into the head and post it?

The F3 fuse is on the main board located near the corner of the board next to the black metal heat sinks that stick up off the board. I would just check all the fuses on the CR board as there are only a couple. The CR board is the board that the other end of the head cables plug into.
