  1. Ink leaking from Mutoh heads

Ink dropping out of heads is usually a damper issue but it can also be caused by anything that messes with the system's pressure such as a bulk system. The head doesn't have macuh to do with holding the ink in at the end of the day. It's the dampers' job to do that. Since you're talking about...
  2. Mutoh tech with Err 79 commu.

CR Encoder error means either the encoder sensor isn't plugged in, it's not straddling the encoder strip, or it's just broken. Error 79 means the cable between the main board and heater junction board isn't plugged in or one of the boards is failing to communicate. The cable looks like an...
  3. Weird Ruler being printed

I'd start with the encoder to rule it out although I'm thinking it's an electrical/data issue. Have you had and electrical surges recently? I would turn the machine off, unplug it, wait 15 minutes, and then take the head out and examine the head cables. If they have ink splatter, corrosion, or...
  4. no color from one printer head roland sp 540v

If you didn't fix the issue that made the fuse pop in the first place, it might have popped again. Make sure you are working with themachine turned off and unplugged. Then wait for about 15 minutes before working on it. Then check the head cables on both ends for damage, ink splatter, or...
  5. no color from one printer head roland sp 540v

If you know ink flowing through the head and it still doesn't fire, the head fuse has blown on the main board. Depending on how old your model is, it might be a socketed fuse which is easy to change but if it's older, you'll have to solder it.
  6. Maintenance Engineer Assistant 1.08

In my experience the engineer assistant doesn't really work. You want to use the Mutoh Service Assistant that is on the Mutoh FTP.
  7. Mimaki CJV150 mottled print and fuzzy test print

If you are talking 14 degrees F then that is going to affect the ink and the way it comes out of the head. I'm willing to bet that's the issue. Humidity is probably low as well. With all else working properly, that's really all that's left.
  8. Suggestions Thick sticker vinyl

+1 for 6 mil. I have a customer who makes retail displays that are put together at the location by the employees. They print on the 6 mil be cause it's so easy to lay down even for someone who has no experience.
  9. 1614 ink cart issues

Once a cartridge is flagged as near empty or empty, it will be permanently. So even if the sensor is bad, you won't know until you try to put either a new card on the cartridge or a new cartridge entirely. Definitely check the sensor for damage before putting in a new cartridge as it will just...
  10. Mimaki CJV150 mottled print and fuzzy test print

It looks like either the heaters are off or the profile is laying down too much ink. Not a bad idea to check your alignments as well.
  11. Need Help Blemishes in Prints

You can use 90% or above alcohol to clean it. I usually clean both sides because the sensor is actually seeing through the strip so each side can get dirty and affect it. Just be gentle as it's a new strip so it shouldn't need any hard scrubbing.
  12. Need Help Blemishes in Prints

That's a weird one. It looks like grease because of the way it repels the ink. It doesn't seem electrical or head related either. You have a few missing nozzles but that wouldn't cause this to happen. It doesn't look like a standard encoder issue but since it was changed recently, I would take a...
  13. Need Help Blemishes in Prints

Looks like the media might be getting contaminated by a pinch roller maybe? Maybe the tech greased the rail and some of it got on the roller.
  14. RF640 - Nozzle Check (Test Print) Serious trouble

Check your head cables for damage, corrosion, or ink splatter. Something is shorting out and causing the head to malfunction. It could be the head itself but it's usually a cable somewhere that's not plugged in properly or is dirty.
  15. color washed on mutoh same print file? have to reprint entire truck... help!

Colors will change over time due to a couple things such as print head degradation, environment, ink expiry status, vinyl manufacturing inconsistencies, etc. If you want to keep colors consistent over time you need a more involved color correction process. Basically, make and maintain your own...
  16. So.... What is everyone going to do for Thanksgiving?

Thinking about adding some Serrano peppers to the green bean casserole this year. Just my sister and I so I can be a little more adventurous this year!
  17. JV33 Printhead flush methods

Whenever you flush one channel and it comes out of the other, the head is toast. The membrane that separates those channels broke so they will never properly print again. We always flush heads as a last resort for this reason but it sounds like that's what you were doing anyway.
  18. Need Help Mimaki CJV150 prints only 4 of 8 colors

I had a very similar issue and it ended up being the head. Exactly half of the nozzles stopped firing out of the blue. You could do a damper swap to confirm this. Just reverse the damper positions and run a hard cleaning cycle. If the CMYK prints in the other channels, the head is dead for sure.
  19. Epson GS600

Sounds like magenta is cross contaminating the yellow. Have you changed the maintenance parts recently?
  20. CJV150 not printing orange or light black

Do you see ink in the lines above the dampers? Did these colors slowly go out or just stop printing out of the blue?
