  1. Which software do I need?

That printer originally came with Mutoh Edition Flexisign & Print RIP Software. Was it not supplied to you with purchase? If not, you need to get some kind of RIP software. Flexisign would work, especially if you didn't get any design software yet. If you already have design software, then Onyx...

  3. I need a great picture of a wine cellar

Even the newest Nikon Z 6 has an image sensor of only 6048x4024 pixels. Pictures just don't come any bigger than that. But have you seen a problem with pixelation on a full-image billboard that's 16'x32'? Or bigger? No, because on bigger images you have to get a greater distance to see the...
  4. How do you structure your pricing for vehicle magnets?

And your reasoning on the price is exactly why sign pricing has gone down the tubes with the advent of digital printing. The $90 price does include a normal markup on materials by doubling the cost. But the bulk of the price to the retail customer is not in the cost of materials; it's in the...
  5. Need Help SP300V printing from original to light color

Usually when you have a lightening of a solid color as you go it means ink starvation. That can come from dampers being bad/clogged or other causes.
  6. How do you structure your pricing for vehicle magnets?

your markup and price is based solely on materials? You don't pay yourself or your design/production/billing/sales people? And yes, even 26 years ago when I started in this business we charged $90 a pair for 12x24 magnetics. And that was with cut vinyl lettering and much lower costs. And nobody...

  10. Just In Product examples/situaions where you WOULDN'T need lamination

We don't do lamination on cheap decals meant for giveaways at driver meet/greets. We don't laminate banners. We don't laminate coroplast signs (they are cheap and meant to be temporary). We don't laminate indoor trade show graphics. We do laminate anything going on outdoor signs meant to be...
  11. What percent do you markup off the shelf parts & retail items on average?

I'm trying to get the markup amount to be 50% of the selling price.
  12. What percent do you markup off the shelf parts & retail items on average?

The Markup percentage is the percentage of the selling price not represented in the cost of the goods. So if the markup is 20%, then 80% of the selling price is the cost. If your cost is $938, then $938/80% = $1172.50 would be the cost for a product with a 20% markup. The contrasts with the...
  13. What percent do you markup off the shelf parts & retail items on average?

MARK most things UP. Markup means you divide cost by the percentage markup.
  14. Problems installing drivers for JV3-160 SPII

I believe the Device Manager items disappear when the printer is turned off. You can hear the Windows "Device Added" sound when you turn the plotter on.
  15. What percent do you markup off the shelf parts & retail items on average?

Don't know about WalMart, but department stores mark most things up beyond keystone (which is 50%, or doubling cost) to as much as 80% on new fashions. Thus, when the season is over and they are offering those same fashions at 60% or 70% off, they are actually still making money.
  16. Mimaki CG-130 FX II plotter - how to start without filling the floor ?

^^This. You're pressing the wrong key when you load it. After you insert the vinyl and close the clamp, you should be pressing the left arrow key for Roll. It will check the left and right edges of the vinyl and then find the leading edge. The display will then read TP1, meaning it's ready to be...
  17. Question Print 2 print/cut jobs at once?

I doubt you'll be able to print two different jobs concurrently. You could set up one job to print on the left edge of the vinyl, and then after the ink dries roll it back and run the other job on the right edge.
  18. Help, please - Mimaki CG-130 FX - How to read a print file for Cutting from RasterLink6 to FineCut8

Have you seen this video? There isn't much you have to do. Although he is working with a print-cut machine, at the end of the video he explains how to do print and cut separately. The key, I believe, may be that you need to use Rasterlink for the cutting, because it makes a linked cutfile from...
