I think it's galvanized fence posts with the wood pieces cut/holesawed to fit over. Figure out a fastening system and it could actually be a banner in there, with the weight of the bottom board holding it tight.

What version of Corel? I remember in the past it used to do that. It was called polylines, I think. Even if you reimported the dxf file back into Corel Draw you would find the curves made up of line segments. I just checked it with Corel Draw 2017, and it did not create polylines from the curves.

If you're going to buy a Graphtec, don't get the CE series if you want a reliable, heavy duty plotter. Get the FC series.
