I think you can when the printer is performing the perfcut...
when you go into the cut adjust while it's perfcutting the pressure should indicate the higher pressure. and I think you can adjust then..
I'm not 100% sure on that though.
You have to set the perf cut in VersaWorks. Once you have the perfcut line setup you then have a new option in VW in the Cut Tab. You can set pressure there.
Yeah. Something is triggering the white head to do something.
Crossed wire?
Head Board misbehaving? (I don't know if that's what they call it. But the board the ribbon cables come out of to the head)
You know, it could be a software issue too. Maybe an update? Might check the firmware just...
What does spraying mean? Is it dripping or printing? If it's dripping then its most likely a leak someplace. If it's printing the ink, as in ink going through the head like it would printing, then it's most likely an electrical issue.
There is no setting to change. Once you pick your spot color your stuck with it. So if there is a metallic cartridge in a white channel the chip is going to prevent you from printing.
Are you lowering the pinch rollers? Once you do that it should automatically move the print carriage and error out if it doesn't detect media.
If you are lowering the pinch rollers and nothing happens, it might be the flag sensor for the pinch roller arm. The metal arm lands in a sensor...
Oh my... Okay.
When the two carriages are connected together how hard is it to separate them yourself? If you can do it with your hands and not wedge a screwdriver in there to separate them, then the magnet isn't connecting well. Also check the bearing smoothness on the print carriage. It...
Do you have your old cartridges? You might swap a chip from an old cartridge with a new cartridge and see if you get the same error.
I think the issue with the 440 cartridges is the weight. The ink slots don't have any reinforcement for the longer cartridges. Might look into making a...
It isn't an elector magnet. The print carriage locks over the capping station and then the cut carriage (which is attached to the belt) pulls away breaking the connection.
How far along the print does it go before the separation error pops up?
Does it act similarly to this?
Check the...
Okay...
So. 1) The magnet might not have a good connection between the carriages. 2) if you have replaced the encoder strip then the sensor may be dirty or out of alignment. That's the one on the back of the print carriage that the encoder strip slides through. sometimes if they are...
Does the carriage move smoothly or is it hanging up on the bearing rail? If you turn the power off you can check the cut carriage that's attached to the belt and the print head carriage separately. If the bearing rail is hanging things up that can cause a separation issue as well.
They are very similar machines, the SP will print slower. Personally I would go for the printer that prints clean now and if they are similar, go with the lower cost
The VP-540 is a good printer, even if it's older. Great starter machine.
Also, if you're interested in VW 6 Here is a link to that. I use VW6 and am happy with the change.

That sounds like a glitch to me. I would unload VW and reinstall... however I would consider doing a direct D/L instead of an update.
Here is a link to the 5.0 software...
Hey Thomas,
So you mentioned that something is coming out now. Do you have pictures we can look at?
Also, Did the printer get moved or did you do anything to the printer itself before this started happening? VersaWorks will have nothing to do with test printing directly from the printer...
