  1. Making Vehicle templates

+1 If a customer is paying for a wrap, and you don't have a template, that customer shouldnt mind bringing the vehicle in for a half hour while you get photos and accurate measurements. If you can't get the vehicle, then you can't blame anyone but yourself if something doesn't match up when it...
  2. Layering Multiple Decals

Im thinking either dazzle him with a sparkle red printed on silver, or slightly more for edge print. Labor would have to be much higher hand laying them cuts together. even moreso if you're thinking of nesting the two silver text lines close together, and applying them separately. What you'd...
  3. Alarm/Surveillance Systems for a home

THis si something Ive wanted to do for a while. But I never wanted to get elaborate... even the x10 systems were too much. A month ago, a guy was robbed the next town over, and he had a motion sensing webcam on. THe pics hit the news that night and within a week the guys were caught. It's...
  4. Rest easy Dan Wheldon

Didn't see it. I will look into it. We did not do the design on this one though. The conceptual art came from Indycar.
  5. Help with equipment value

Whether they know the markup or not doesnt really matter. You have a business to run. They obviously can't afford to pay an employee to run the equipment for less than 20k a year (what theyre purchasing from you each year) if I read this correctly.
  6. Giclee/canvas on HP 25550??

We did some tests on magic media, hp and fredrix canvas. Fredrix beat the others hands down. Had issues with 'pinholing' of sorts on deep blacks with the hp and magic media stuff.
  7. HP Latex Printer arrived today...

Stick reflective or metallic in it, and have him/her setup/tweak a profile so you can see how to set one up/go through the motions of adjusting heat, etc..

What you spend in electricity you will save on your heating bill :rock-n-roll:
  10. Rest easy Dan Wheldon

we do alot of race work. NHRA and Indycar (among others) keep us pretty busy, yes. Some wraps, some decals, some paintmasks. It's a pretty good mix. As for safety it's a tough call. the open cockpit is always going to be a problem. The head trauma was cause by his head hitting a fence post when...
  11. Attention HP l25500 owners!

If your falcon is the only other printer in the shop I wouldnt do it. the HP is a good printer for alot of things, but it's not for everything, and theres a learning curve. Our mimaki never skips a beat when the hp can't handle a substrate, and we'd be screwed without our workhorse backup.
  12. Rest easy Dan Wheldon

A little better in person. At certain angles it has some 'sexy' to it, but most other angles it's just too different and 'speedracer' if that makes sense. I am curious who they will get to test it. Wheldon had done quite a bit of testing it.
  13. Rest easy Dan Wheldon

Was at the shop yesterday, car was wrapped all white, and stripes were just starting to be added. I'm sure they got finished photos (I think they were doing time lapse of the wrap as well) but the photos form the ceremony look good. indycar site photo of the car...
  14. Banners on HP L25500

13 oz seems ok. But we've had some 10 oz pvc material melt pretty good. At the time, it was a rush so we switched to our mimaki. I imagine we can adjust heat for it (when I get back to the office and verify what brand material it was) Even drying can be an issue sometimes. Pulling some extra...
  15. Rest easy Dan Wheldon

Well, IRL made their minds up, and we just got delivery of the 2012 test car for a Dan Wheldon Memorial wrap (Event this Sunday). It will not be as elaborate as the godaddy full wrap attached, but I will be sure to post photos come monday. 'Before' 2012 chassis photo also attached.
  16. Rest easy Dan Wheldon

It is truly unfortunate. Everyone out here has heads hanging low after returning from Vegas. He had some things going, and seemed to be getting really involved in the series again. Was a very likeable guy by fellow drivers, mechanics, and fans alike.
  17. New racing t-shirt design...

    Nice illustrations!
  18. Attention HP l25500 owners!

We're going to get a little 'hula girl' to sit atop ours.
  19. Copyright Violation Question

Yeah what he said. If you didnt register the copyright, good luck getting anything out of them. Best you can do is tell them to stop reproducing it, and attempt to prove actual damages (good luck with that).
  20. Removing Liner from Media

Our installers have noted that wraps on the hp tend to affect the avery EZ vinyl, making it more aggressive. They claim it seems ok on stuff thats sat for a day or more before laminating... But anything thats laminated shortly after printing is difficult to wrap with.
