  2. CorelDraw, where to learn?

Most have probably already replied to this thread..but just though i'd throw my two cents in there.. when i was hired at the sign shop i now work at, i had ZERO experience in computer designing, but they liked my drawings and i was a very quick learner. They had Coreldraw 9, that is what i...
  3. Rasterlink 6 pro & JV33 cleaning question

i came across an old thread started by you, and answered by hbb2008 in 2008. This is what he wrote: you can do this by going into Function --> setup--> type--> Auto cleaning, down arrow to On or OFF and then when it is turned on, press Function to change the mm intervals. OR Function -->...
  4. Mimaki magenta help

When i had this issue it was our pump. Mimaki JV33-130, had exactly the same issue as you're having. for some reason it wasn't pulling the ink 100% through the lines, and was only in the magenta channels, which i thought meant damper issues, but we changed the dampers and had same issue with the...
  5. MIMAKI JV33 PRINTS VINYL SHORTER THAN IT SHOULD

We had a JV33-130 ( it died .. main board went but available for parts!) and now we have JV300-160 plus. anywho, i notice the same issue (with both printers), and i've deduced that it's the weight of the media your printing.. as others have mentioned below. when i have a full roll of oracal...
  6. Material problem or printer set up issue?

To me that looks like backer problems from the factory. Doesn't matter if they sent you a "new roll" it could be cut from the same batch. We record all our batch numbers when receiving material incase there are issues. Check your batch numbers of each roll, if they are the same then they were...
  7. Finecut Connection issue

sometimes pulling out the cord and sticking it back in helps. :P seriously, my computer looses connection all the time with our machine, it turned out its the USB cord.. but its' SUPER long. Did you check the little box ( bottom left hand corner) when you try to cut something in Coreldraw ( we...
  8. Magenta Nozzles misfiring on brand new head

When we had this issue, it ended up being the pump. I lost my magenta nozzles too, tried the manual cleaning etc, pulling ink thru etc.. changed dampers, etc.. but still had the issue. For some reason because the pump wasn't "Sucking" at full strength, it wasnt pulling the ink thru the lines...
  9. Font Help Font ID

I thought i'd never need to post this.. but here goes. I can't seem to find this font. i know it's something simple but for some reason my brain is braining and i checked all the ones i thought it could be but no matches. thnx.
  10. attaching ACM to steel frame

We use a product called Lord Adhesive, but we're in Canada and you might not have that product in the US. assuming your in the states. ha. :P
  11. New Guy Opinions, Suggestions and ALL YOUR FREAKING KNOWLEDGE.....please

Invest in a good computer/ drawing program (adobe or corel), and a must have printer and vinyl cutter at least to start. You can do most things with those things as a minimum. Having a router table eventually is good too and doesn't need to be brand new state of the art either. Heck we are still...
  12. Question Mimaki Parts

We get our parts from RB Digital. They have a few locations all over canada. You can look there maybe.
  13. For Sale Need ICC

Most companies offer ICC profiles for their products (Oracal / 3M / etc). Visit whichever site you need and they should have ICC profiles for download for FREE. And usually, if they do not have the media listed, you can contact them for an ICC profile for that product.
  14. Help with making aluminum signs!

You could always just print them on a clear media with UV laminate, and then apply them to aluminum. If you only doing a few. Unless they want the "laser engraved" / stamped look or entering their own numbers, etc . You could try sourcing through Gemini. They make all sorts of goodies like that.
  15. How is this made

That looks like .080 aluminum facing welded to an extrusion, such as EX-7 then painted. The letters are most likely a Gemini 1/4" aluminum letter painted with a pin mount method, bolted on from behind. We have made a few signs like this over the years. I assume it's non illuminated? We could...
  16. Banding issues

The pump in our old machine that was going also seemd to "act" normal.. other than what was happening in my above post. We eventually had a tech come out and change the pump, so i'm not mechanically inclined in that area. i wouldn't know how to "test" it. You could try looking up you tube videos...
  17. "No More Walk-ins" - Good Idea, or Terrible Mistake?

We get some of these " walk ins" as well. Expecting their stuff before anyone else, even though we tell them that it's normally a 1-2 week period. In my opinion, if the job doesn't take much time and is a quick turn around, i would keep the customer happy. Those small fries tell all the other...
  18. Banding issues

We used to run a JV33-130 Mimaki and one time i started losing some of my magenta nozzles, and then it was all of them and then one or two other nozzles were missing. i tried everthing, cleaning, nozzles washes, wiper change, soaks.. etc.. nothing worked.. turned out it was the pump, it was not...
  19. One Way Vision (Laminated)

have you tried using rapid tack? i'm not sure if would still leave the moisture after affect like water, but it might work for that application if you need to do it wet. I do know it does dry superfast, unlike water.
