  1. Boat Vinyl Help Please

Any high-performance cast vinyl should be fine. You might have to hand cut the stripes if your plotter isn't a sprocket machine. Clean the surface really well, then clean it again.
  2. hardcoating sign foam with fiberglass resin

I have a set of carved 15lb sign-foam letters that are going to be placed where they may get touched by passersby. I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with resin coating sign foam. Can I just brush coat them with resin? Should they be primed first? I want a smooth glossy finish. In...
  3. Want to share your failed Before and After attempts?

A local barber presented me with this design a "world class" designer friend of his created for his new shop. It is to be viewed by moving traffic from over 130 feet away. I insulted both of them with my revised suggestion on the right.
  4. A program that auto traces better than CorelDraw and AI

I recently upgraded my Corel12 version to Corel X7 and I gotta say the autotrace is 1000% improved.
  5. French Script

It's hard to tell from that picture, but I think it may be hand painted. The lowercase e's seem to vary a bit.
  6. Thinning One-Shot Down to translucent coats

I don't understand the hate for 1Shot that always pops up when someone mentions the product. I've been using it since the 70's and I don't experience the issues others mention. Maybe the formula is different in the US than here in Canada. It will always be my preference over the other...
  7. New logo for myself.

I like the the general concept, but I think the script has a lot of smoothing needed. There are some "flat tires" and inconsistent line weights that make it look like it was poorly auto-traced by computer.
  8. New shop front sign ( my own )

This might be an easy way out of having to do any changes to the building.
  9. The only font you'll ever need!

Bleeding Cowboy/Brush Script will be his next offering.
  10. a little help needed

Thanks, I owe you one. :rock-n-roll:
  11. a little help needed

I know that Bathgate is Intellecta Roman, but I can't seem to find the font for the secondary text. Anybody recognize General Store Resort & Marina? I'm going to carve a sign in cedar for the new owners, who don't know where the original art came from. Thanks for lookin'...
  12. let's pretend...

New regulations have forced us to adopt the triangle tire. It has something to do with getting us to stop talking on cell phones when driving.
  13. let's pretend...

I think you need to design in black and white first. Make sure it works at that level first before you add crazy effects like blue.
  14. Hey, there. From Victoria BC

I gotta say I find your comment quite offensive. I work closely with First Nations people here in my community on projects that range from intricate jewellery to very large carved totem poles. You glued bubble letters on broken furniture and made a box from junk. You should re-think your racist...
  15. How do you price vinyl lettering?

For RTA boat registration numbers we typically charge $40 a set for 1 colour and $60 with an outline or shadow. Never get any complaints. Our shop is located in a small town right on the ocean and there must be more boats in the area than people. If ya'll want to do 'em for 20 bucks, have at...
  16. Not really sign related

I think you may have to draw a vector deck and overlay it on the photo.
  17. Sign I just did!

I kinda know how you feel Shoresigns. Why did we work so hard to learn to handletter like a machine if the clients are going to force us to put on decals that look like this example (pic of Cobalt). I had to put that on a brand new $1.5 million dollar yacht. Barf... I don't really miss doing 4...
  18. TEXTUR3D™ Dimensional Logo

Overall, that's a real beauty. It might just be a non-issue but I'm bothered by the conflicting drop-shadows. One line is shadowed to the left then the line of text below is shadowed to the right. I really do like the logo however.
  19. Hand Routed Sign

But I've seen Casablanca three times. That should at least equal one Star War.
  20. Hand Routed Sign

"How do you get off comparing a great classic = star wars to some 2nd class movie like Casablanca I mean gosh" I haven't seen STAR WARS and I guess I didn't realize it was a classic. Is Bogart in it?
