  1. How do you hire?

We agree on two things; 1) paying more will help attract more quality employees and 2) Min wage discussion probably belongs on another thread.
  2. How do you hire?

Good question. We're not even starting from the same place which is yet another indicator of the vast divide we have going on. My answer to your question is a firm 'No', not the governments role to provide 'everything you need and a little bit extra' or even paying healthy, unwilling to work...
  3. NEW AND FROM TX

Welcome from Southeast MO and best of luck!
  4. I'm worried...

Allright, Robert is back. I take back anything nice I may have said about him. (kidding!)
  5. I'm worried...

True - have to admire his persistence.
  6. I'm worried...

Hope that's not it. He's suffered a lot of abuse on here. Maybe he just gave up.
  7. How do you hire?

For a while now, there has been a growing expectation of the federal government to solve all of our problems. I'm not taking issue with the idea of a minimum wage, just the idea that the federal government be the one to establish it. Having a respectful argument (does that happen any more?)...
  8. How do you hire?

I hope to keep this respectful of your opinion, with which I totally disagree. The problem with someone paying $80K on a four year degree is they likely got ripped off by a bloated, ineffective educational bureaucracy and terrible judgement on their part. Why should a business be responsible...
  9. How do you hire?

I know these are stereotypes, but two that have worked over the years: for hands-on work, if possible hire someone with a farm upbringing or has hobbies that are hands-on like working on cars, crafts etc. For a good shot at work ethic, hire someone who worked through school, attended class...
  10. How do you hire?

I meant to say, he, she, they. Wouldn't want to get canceled on S101
  11. How do you hire?

Your boss sounds like a great person. He hired you didn't he? :) And I'll bet you can read a ruler.
  12. How do you hire?

I think it's a cultural shift in attitudes about work. Combination of crappy colleges that focus on granting degrees but not actually preparation for work. Parents absent or that don't teach work ethic and make excuses for the kids. I give them a basic arithmetic test and actually pull out a...
  13. TV Liquidator?

Not the kind of company I would trust - from their website: We're also a major supplier to over a thousand sign companies and Internet retailers across the USA and Canada. They sell our signs for almost double our prices. There are some companies that are selling LED signs for triple our prices...
  14. New HP Latex 700 and 800 series - with White ink

The white ink 'premium' blows me away that it's that reasonable. Even the ink costs seem decent. Definitely on my radar but I'll hold off until you early adopters uncover potential bugs.
  15. Percent of Jobs by sales price

I don't turn down any orders based on their dollar amount. Instead, the customer's self select based on what I charge for the order or the minimum quantity. For example, I will sell you two yard signs, but I have a Flat per order charge and a per sign cost, so ordering one sign would probably...
  16. What made you smile today

Sort of a sad-smile. More 'free' gubm't money via PPP2 funded today. Didn't really need it - just had one bad quarter last year which I already made up, but this might end up being my rainy day fund.
  17. Discussion January 2021...how did everyone do?

Because timing of payment on larger orders can screw with our numbers (we are cash basis accounting) I look at 3 month rolling average year to year. Almost exactly even, which is disappointing. Need to motivate the head sales guy (yours truly).
  18. Need Help Anyone know where to get the material to make this curb sign..looks cool!!!

But your point is important - need to always test as there are probably thousands of different sealer variants out there.
  19. Need Help Anyone know where to get the material to make this curb sign..looks cool!!!

Depends on the sealer and application. I'm referring to floor sealants like stains , top coatings etc. which comprise many of the surfaces to which floor decals are applied. I happen to lease from a concrete products company next door who refers us a lot, and haven't run into problems yet...
  20. Need Help Anyone know where to get the material to make this curb sign..looks cool!!!

Wouldn't all of these products require a sealed surface? Seems like every product I've placed on unsealed concrete permanently stains the concrete after a few months.
