Posting a pic would be helpful. However, if it is a defined magenta line then it sounds like your magenta head might be out of alignment. Overspray usually doesn't show up in a uniform pattern or line.

Nothing in the 7800 ink train is made from solvent-resistant material. Even putting eco-solvent inks in this machine is going to be disastrous. Take Jesse's advice to sell it and put a down payment on a solvent machine.

+1 on the head alignments. You're going to need to do the manual adjustments like tbaker said. I don't think there is any way the electronic adjustments will get those back in line. Did you use a hammer to replace that manifold? :)

The JV3 has a mesh screen in the cap top but it will do the same thing. If that mesh screen contacts the print head it can cause the same siphon affect.

+1 here, 9 times out of 10 this will be your cause for drained ink cartridges.
