  3. An interesting (positive) problem...

Thanks Addy, I think in your situation where you outsource, you have more of a need to standardise your 'rush' fees. Being a manufacturer/printer here, I don't really want to be a ***** and charge rush fees everytime someone needs something quick, because honestly... everyone wants...
  4. An interesting (positive) problem...

Thanks Gino, I put on around 25%, they said OK, but I replied back and shaved $20 off and told them to shout themselves a nice lunch today. Win/Win I hope. Cheers!
  5. An interesting (positive) problem...

So... I have a nice customer - who is insisting they pay extra for something to be done quicker than usual. I haven't really had to charge extra for speed because I'm usually ok for my customers' deadlines. In this particular case, I was asked if I could do it quicker (willing to pay for)...

  7. we are officially in the UV printing business!!

Hey congratulations. I know with Rolands they always like to advertise the low quality speed most... but in reality, I hardly ever use those settings. My jobs require a good quality print. In saying that, how long does it take you on this machine to print, in good quality (not photo, but...

  10. Laser Engraving/Cutting

For the record... the "no no" and "toxic" thing about cutting PVC is that it releases Chlorine gas (C stands for Chloride). This stuff makes you cough up blood by irritating your lungs, as was demonstrated in wartime. To the machine, yes, it just corrodes the metal components in the machine...
  11. Since I was called out.......................

I'm by no means a religious man Gino, however this is a great supplement from the Bible, to Twain's "don't argue with a fool, spectators won't be able to tell who's who after a while". http://www.biblefood.com/foolques.html
  12. What's your shop minimum?

I would go crazy very quick if i did $25! Surprisingly, the $60 crowd has me stumped more and more these last couple months. Usually it's the $80 crowd that drives me insane... coz the $60 "trade" type customers... they usually know what they're talking about... The last couple of...

  14. Philosphical vendor question

That right there is very true. But... it relies on logic. If only logic existed in such abundance... Your supplier definitely should be helping you out here... hope you can find a way to get some assistance.
  15. Philosphical vendor question

I have some clients who I have trained to supply files as; "1220x1220mm inc bleed - Trim to 1200x1200.eps" Others, I have trained to include material type, vinyl grade, positive or reverse print etc as well into the file name. Your supplier has failed to train you on how to correctly...
  16. The latex. Wanna know what it's about?

Great thread - Thanks Colorado. I am keen to see more information about the "bowing" and "print-cut registration" "issues" I have seen here and there. Also about what cutter people find is best to use with this printer - or is it much of a muchness? All decent cutters are fine? Also...
  17. Pricing Software

Excel here. Works fine and can easily customise it whenever I have the need.
  18. Can the default contour cut line color be changed?

The on screen colour can be whatever you like, as long as the spot colour is named correctly. The RIP doesn't "see" the colour, it sees the NAME.
  19. Printing grey scale

True, but being able to choose a grey off roland color pallette I think is a pretty good way of knowing what grey you're going to get before printing. I make my own profiles, but grey is just grey... it could be warm grey, could be cool grey... I like being able to show someone the roland...
