  11. Printing on Clear Media - Installing on black surface

Sounds crazy, I know... I have the option of bidding on a job that requires labels to be printed on clear then applied to a black part. Can a ValueJet print solid enough to "pop" on a black background? Do I need white ink? Can a ValueJet use white ink? Are there other options than using a...
  12. PrismJet VS. ValueJet & what did you pay?

Thanks Koob - your reinforcing my thoughts. I am shopping around and talking to many people the folks at SW are actually talking me down from the JetV. Not sure I understand her thought on that, but she is sending samples of the two to compare. Seems to me if you can get around it easier and...
  13. PrismJet VS. ValueJet & what did you pay?

Along the same lines as others, for doing wraps, I am looking at 62-64" printers and am liking the Mutohs. My question lies in the "wave" technology. Is it worth the extra money? If I get the model down from that (without the "wave") will I get banding? I have been told I will be OK without...
  14. bling effect

Actually, you have a few on the leading edge of the letters and most on the back side. Less is more - think about shinning a flashlight on the text - you will get "stars" on one side of the letter, unless the light source was directly in front of it, but your shadow implies differently.
  15. external HD

Depending on when the head crashed - that is what the clicking is coming from - you will likely be able to get it recovered. If it broke in transport/not powered, then you will be OK, but if it broke while spinning, the chances of irreparable damage is greater. Also - decide the value of that...

  18. Barb Wire

If you are using illustrator, you can create your shape that you want then apply the following brush to it - http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/exchange/index.cfm?event=extensionDetail&loc=en_us&extid=1045333 Better than anything else since you can make it do what you want.
  19. routers and switches.. can someone educate me

Some more tips on what to look for (assuming you have a "dumb" switch, or a switch that doesn't require any setup)- - Make sure the two machines on the same IP scheme - 192.168.1.100, 192.168.1.101, etc. and not something different like 127.0.0.2. - Check your file and print sharing settings. -...
