  1. Profiling films

A stopped by a buddy's shop and he handed me a roll of polyester backlit film and said he had no use for it. It has no name brand on the core, so I don't know where it came from, but it's a full 150 ft of it. I printed it on our HP latex using the profile for HP's backlit polyester film. It...
  2. Dry Erase Vinyl?

Oracal had a laminate on the tables outside the beer garden setup they had at the ISA show. All the tables had dry erase markers and wet wipes on them. They had games like hang man on the tables, so you could play the games and wipe it off.
  3. Hope all are safe from storms last nite

I saw numbers the other day, they've had over a 100 less tornado's in the same time frame as previous years. It was something like 130 so far, with 260 being the average for the same time frame.
  4. Yard Signs, Is this out of line?

What equipment are you printing them with? After attending the ISA show and seeing some of the equipment there, I'm guessing it's quite possible to do it very inexpensive. Some of those machines were running 2700 sq. ft. per hour.
  5. Need advice on my shop's van wrap....

Granted, I'm not a designer, but I did attend a Dan Antonelli Design Class ;) Here's what I'd ask myself- if someone saw that driving down the road, would they know or remember the name when they got back to work or home? From the currently layout, your name is so small, but your services are...
  6. ISA recap?

We attended Dan's class as well. Really great info in that class for sure. It puts things into proper perspective and once you leave there and drive around, you'll find yourself pointing out what's wrong with all the layouts driving around :) I remember standing in front of a number of booths...
  7. ISA recap?

This was our first trip to ISA and I have mixed feelings about it. Part of me was excited and overwhelmed by the vast amount of stuff. Really, really cool stuff. Flatbed printers printing 2,700 sq. ft per hour? Seriously? Who needs that much stuff printed? :) Nice package deals for a printer and...
  8. We made the cover of Sign Builder Illustrated!

Thanks! It was cool to see them being handed out at the ISA show because they printed the cover on vinyl, so it had 2 covers, one vinyl and one normal and it looked really good. Met the publisher while I was there, super nice guy. Who knows if it'll amount to anything, but it's always nice for...
  9. We made the cover of Sign Builder Illustrated!

Thanks Guys! I appreciate the kind words. It's taken a lot of work to get here, but I hope we've only just begun.
  10. We made the cover of Sign Builder Illustrated!

Check us out if you get the hard copy for April, if not here's a link to the digital version : http://issuu.com/signbuilderillustrated/docs/april_2014_signbuilder_magazine_iss/1?e=4465841/7234676 I think the article starts around page 40. We were really pleased with how in depth their...
  11. Fellers.........Cha cha cha changes?

Around here, they beat Advantages prices by a decent amount. We don't pay catalog prices, and their rep stops by about once a month, or more often if a factory rep is in town and we want to see them.
  12. Sandblasting or Routing Corian

I think the difference is that the drops you get from cabinet shops are useless to them. They literally throw them in the dumpster. I know people that have gotten 1000's of pounds of solid surface materials from cabinet guys and the cabinet guys were thrilled to give it away because they didn't...
  13. I just launched a Kickstarter project.

Almost there! Looks like it'll probably end up in the $12,000-15,000 range? Good for you, glad it's about to get funded!
  14. What ever happened to ____________?

    What about BigDawg?
  15. Just because you're an Artist doesn't mean you're a Sign Maker

I saw something yesterday on a trip to see a client that caught my eye and made me take notice. I was at a stoplight and I was 1 car from the entrance to a couple of stores that share a parking lot. I think one is wheels for cars and one is a floor place. Sitting at the entrance by the road is a...
  16. What ever happened to ____________?

Yeah, that's him! Wonder what happened to him. Hopefully he's busy making signs!
  17. What ever happened to ____________?

Ever wonder what happened to people on this forum? If so, post their name and let's see if anyone has any updates. I wondered what happened to that guy that was posting beautiful HDU signs. He had the one that looked like wood and woodpeckers actually knocked holes in it. He posted a lot of...
  18. So Just how fast IS your Plotter...Really!

I think I got that job because it feels like I keep going backwards :) 1 step forward, 2 steps back.
  19. Self Portrait Designed in CorelDRAW

HA! Finally proof! We knew you were a Machine Joe! This self portrait closes that case! Really awesome job!
  20. Would I benefit by puttting in a SSD drive in my five year old computer?

I put one in an iMac yesterday. I'm typing from it now. Opening Adobe products is incredible. Photoshop CC takes about 1 second to open. Less than 2 seconds for sure. I really like the fact that it forced me to do the OS on that and then use a HDD for data. Now things are setup the way they...
